Imagine that you have 86,400 lei in your account, and someone stole 10 lei from you. Would you be so upset with the man who stole from you that you would throw away all the other 86,390 lei in the hope that you will get something from the person who stole your 10 lei? Or would you go ahead and take care of your life? Of course you would go on and live your life.

We have 86,400 seconds every day. Someone may upset us for 10 seconds with a remark, a gesture, something we don’t like. And we ruin the other 86,390 seconds by obsessively thinking about how unfair that “thief” treated us.

Our life means more than wearing a spade, turning our full attention to those who make mistakes. But we often direct our time to them. We would take care of the money, but we don’t even think about saving time. We do not realize that it is much more precious than any material resource, and we throw it away for anything insignificant. We “spend” it on people who not only don’t appreciate it, but don’t even care.

Our goal is not to take into account every evil and every insult that will ever be brought to us. And these will come! They will come directly or from behind, they will come out of envy or malice … or indifference. God teaches us to forgive. It teaches us to escape this trap! He teaches us to leave these thoughts in His hands and for us to move on, to invest that time we would waste in looking for ways to become better and better, to look more and more like He! And it’s hard work, because He gave His life for us, even though He always knew how wrong we would live.

Our time like this is extremely short here. Why lose it so badly when we can use it every day to learn, to evolve, to understand what God wants from us? The fact that we let others steal hours, even days from nowhere, is terribly wrong and we have to work to change that. And at some point we will succeed, I’m sure! Because we are not alone in this struggle, but we have an Ally in God. And He has all the resources to win heavy wars for us!
