Joy Behar Defends Her Role on “The View” and Fires Back at Critic

The View’s Joy Behar, a veteran presence in daytime talk shows, found herself in a heated exchange with ABC News Political Director Rick Klein during Friday’s episode. As the discussion turned to politics and the upcoming midterm elections, Behar challenged Klein’s suggestions and received some pushback.

Ana Navarro set the stage by highlighting the changing trends in the polls, with Republicans initially in the lead but Democrats gaining momentum after the Roe v. Wade overturn. Sensing an opportunity, Behar interjected with a pointed question about reporters’ coverage of gas issues and if they explore Republican proposals.

Behar, known for her direct and no-nonsense approach, emphasized the importance of follow-up questions for a comprehensive understanding. Klein, in response to her assertiveness, humorously offered her a job right then and there. Ignoring the remark, Behar pressed on with her line of questioning.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, the conservative host, jumped in and suggested a cameo appearance for Behar on the show. Klein, with a tongue-in-cheek tone, extended a permanent invitation. Behar smiled and steered the conversation back to the pressing issues at hand.

Despite celebrating her 80th birthday this month, Behar is still a force to be reckoned with on The View. She is the only original panelist since the show’s premiere in 1997 and recently signed a new contract reaffirming her commitment to the long-running talk show. In her own words, “I have no plans to retire. I’m here for the long haul.”

Reflecting on the success of The View, Behar emphasized the show’s importance and its status as the most-watched daytime show. She expressed her happiness in being part of the program and vowed to continue delivering engaging content.

During a unique on-air celebration, Behar’s co-stars marked her 80th birthday, even in her absence from the panel. Moderator Whoopi Goldberg conveyed birthday wishes and promised additional celebrations upon Behar’s return.

Behar’s journey on The View faced a brief hiatus in 2013 when she was fired, only to make a triumphant return in 2015. While reflecting on the past, she revealed, “We still don’t know why they dumped me,” adding an air of mystery to her departure. Although she believes it was ultimately a good decision, the circumstances surrounding her firing remain unclear.

This Fox News exclusive showcases Joy Behar’s unwavering commitment and resilience on The View. The clash with Rick Klein underscores her determination to engage in robust discussions and solidifies her irreplaceable role in daytime television.
