Sally Field’s Worst On-Screen Kiss Revealed

Sally Field, the legendary 76-year-old actress, has always been a favorite of mine. Her exceptional talent and long history of on-screen relationships have made her a beloved figure in Hollywood. And while she has received her fair share of on-screen smooches, she recently revealed which one was the worst. And it might come as a surprise to most!

Field, regarded as one of the most accomplished and versatile actors of her generation, has enchanted us with her performances in a variety of movies and television shows. From her unforgettable portrayal in the burial scene of Steel Magnolias to her iconic roles in Mrs. Doubtfire, Erin Brockovich, and Smokey and the Bandit, Sally Field has left an indelible mark in the industry.

But her journey to success wasn’t always easy. Born into a show business family in Pasadena, California, Field had a rather ordinary upbringing. She faced challenges early on, including a covert abortion at the age of 17 and cruel treatment from her stepfather. However, her character and resilience shone through, making her the stunningly modest person we know today.

Despite her accomplished career, Field continues to take on new projects. In 2020, she appeared in the television series “Dispatches From Elsewhere” and is set to star in the upcoming series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” in 2022. With such an active schedule, it’s no wonder that Sally occasionally graces us with interviews.

During a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Field decided to open up about her worst on-screen kiss in response to a fan’s question. Laughing and looking around, she hesitantly revealed the surprising answer: her ex-boyfriend, actor Burt Reynolds. Cohen, the host, was taken aback but curious.

Field explained that during the filming of “Smokey and the Bandit,” she had to “look the other way” because Reynolds simply wasn’t that great at on-screen kisses. She jokingly mentioned that he did a lot of “drooling” during their scenes together. The two co-stars had connected in 1977 and dated for about five years after that.

According to Reynolds’ autobiography, he expressed regret about their time together and wished he had tried harder to make things work. However, Field had her reasons for cutting off communication with him for the last 30 years of his life. She revealed that he just wasn’t good for her and she didn’t want to deal with the complexity of their relationship.

As a longtime fan of Sally Field, I’ve always held nothing but high praise and respect for her incredible body of work. She truly is top-notch!
