Woman Finds Lost Engagement Ring in Her Garden After 13 Years

Did you ever lose something precious and think it was gone forever? That’s what happened to Mary Grams, a lovely lady from Alberta, Canada. In 2004, while tending to the weeds at her family’s farm, Mary lost her engagement ring. She searched high and low but couldn’t find it. Little did she know that 13 years later, a carrot would bring her beloved ring back to her.

A Surprising Discovery

In 2017, Mary’s daughter-in-law was gardening when she stumbled upon a peculiar-looking carrot. To everyone’s astonishment, the carrot had a diamond ring tightly wrapped around its root! That’s right, Mary’s long-lost engagement ring was found, but it was now a part of this unusual vegetable.

A Secret Kept

Mary vividly remembered the moment she lost her ring. She shared, “I went to the garden for something and I saw this long weed. For some reason, I picked it up and it must have caught on something and pulled [the ring] off.” She had worn the ring since 1951, before she married her husband, Norman. Despite desperately searching for the ring, Mary couldn’t find it. Not wanting to upset her husband, she secretly bought herself a similar-looking ring and kept the loss to herself. She explained, “I didn’t tell him because I thought for sure he’d give me heck or something.”

The Homecoming

Over the years, Mary and her family had moved away from their old farm, but they still maintained the garden. Mary’s daughter-in-law, Colleen Daley, was the one who discovered the ring. She immediately recognized that it had to belong to either her grandmother or her mother-in-law. When Colleen showed the ring to her husband, he knew it right away. It was his mother’s long-lost engagement ring, which she had misplaced in the garden all those years ago.

A Perfect Fit

The way the ring had grown around the carrot was quite unbelievable. “If you look at it, it grew perfectly around the ring. I’ve never seen anything like that. It was quite interesting,” Colleen described. Mary was overjoyed to have her engagement ring back after all those years. She plans to wear it proudly on her finger, where it belongs. Despite her husband’s passing over five years ago, this incredible discovery brings back cherished memories of their long and loving marriage.

So, if you ever lose something dear to you, don’t lose hope. Like Mary Grams, you may just find it in the most unexpected place!
