When I Arrived at My Wedding

Ever since Nicole started planning her wedding, her mother became deeply involved, eagerly offering her help every step of the way. When Nicole gently requested her mother to take a step back, her mom understood, though her enthusiasm seemed unshakable.

However, on the big day, Nicole’s mother appeared at the wedding wearing a full bridal gown. She claimed she had received a call asking her to dress that way. Nicole was left bewildered and upset, determined to uncover who was behind this prank that played on her mother’s emotions and disrupted their special day.

From the beginning, Nicole had envisioned a simple, joyous wedding. Unlike other girls who dreamt of lavish ceremonies, Nicole’s only specific wish was to have cupcakes at the reception. However, she also knew about her mother’s unfulfilled dreams of planning a wedding, as her parents had never married; her father had left before she was born.

When the wedding planning began, Nicole’s mother threw herself into every detail with great zeal, as if planning her own wedding. She chose flowers, cakes, and table settings with enthusiasm. One day, while she was busy with the wedding notebook, Nicole gently asked her mom to step back a little, worried about her over-involvement. The smile her mother gave was one of understanding, although tinged with a quiet sadness, making Nicole feel guilty instantly.

With gratitude, Nicole watched her mother respect her wishes, stepping back but staying connected with Anna, the wedding planner, to oversee final preparations.

On the morning of the wedding, Nicole arrived at the church filled with anticipation. Yet, as she entered the bride’s dressing room, she was shocked to find her mother in a wedding gown, holding shoes and beaming brightly as if lost in a joyous dream.

“Mom? What’s going on?” Nicole gasped, her voice fraught with shock.

Her mother spun around, the gown glittering around her, “I got a call saying you’d love for us to share the wedding day! I was surprised because you hadn’t mentioned it, but it thrilled me!”

Nervously, Nicole asked, “Who called you?” Her mother hesitated, sensing something was off. “It was your wedding planner… I think,” she said uncertainly.

Nicole quickly called Anna, demanding an explanation. Anna reassured her it wasn’t her idea, though admitted her boss, Miranda James, had requested her mother’s contact information. Nicole felt a chill run down her spine at the mention of Miranda, knowing her to be Peter’s ex.

Leaving her mother to change, Nicole rushed to find Peter, explaining everything in distress. Peter was as shocked and furious as she was. Together, they headed straight for Miranda’s office, determined to confront her. They found her there, sitting smugly at her desk.

“Why did you do this?” Peter asked, his voice brimming with anger.

Miranda responded with a sly grin, “I thought it’d be a fun surprise.” Her audacity fueled their frustration further.

“This is unbelievably low, even for you,” Peter said, his voice heavy with disappointment. Meanwhile, Nicole felt fed up with the confrontation. Swiftly, she recorded a video on her phone, sharing the incident and exposing Miranda’s meddling. She tagged all the vendors involved with their wedding.

Returning to the church, Nicole’s phone buzzed with supportive messages as people condemned Miranda’s actions. By the time Nicole prepared to walk down the aisle, the online community rallied against Miranda, and her reputation was in ruins.

At the church, Nicole found her mother waiting, her eyes filled with heartfelt emotion. “Mom, I’m so sorry about everything. I know how excited you were,” Nicole whispered, holding her mother close.

Her mother gently smiled, smoothing Nicole’s hair. “It’s alright, dear. I should have realized it was a prank—you’d have told me if it was the real plan. Now, let’s get you married.”

With pride and love, her mother walked her down the aisle. As they reached the altar, Peter embraced Nicole’s mother warmly. Despite the earlier chaos, the ceremony proceeded smoothly, thanks to Anna’s handling of everything while they were away.

During their honeymoon, Nicole received numerous emails from wedding planners offering complimentary services. They wanted to show their support after hearing about Miranda’s disgraceful actions. Lounging on the beach, Peter chuckled, “Looks like the entire industry is lining up to outshine Miranda.”

Nicole laughed, “True, but I’m not planning another wedding.” Her tone softened as she continued, “However, my mom deserves the wedding she’s always dreamed of. She was ready for it. I think I’ll take up those offers and plan it all for her.”

Peter’s teasing smile turned genuine when he realized her sincerity. “You know, that’s a really wonderful idea,” he said warmly.

Naming a new planner, Nicole discreetly set up a wedding fitting her mother’s tastes—perfectly chosen flowers, delightful cake, and the wedding dress her mother once admired. On the event day, family and friends thought they were attending her in-law’s anniversary celebration, but her mother arrived to a surprise that made her emotional.

“This is for you,” Nicole said, helping her into her bridal gown. “Every bit of it is for you.”

Moved deeply, Nicole’s mother finally experienced the wedding she always wanted. It was a cherished occasion that only strengthened the bond between them.

What would you have done?
