They saw him start digging deep trenches in the backyard and filling bags with dirt

After moving into his new home in 2017 with his partner Sarah, Alex Dodman, who was then 36 years old and from Saffron Walden, Essex, had a fantasy of installing a swimming pool in the backyard of his property.

In the year 2020, when Alex began work on the pool, he purchased the majority of the necessary materials from Facebook. This helped him save thousands of dollars.

The entire construction only cost ten thousand dollars, which is significantly less than the twelve thousand pounds or more that would be required for a professional swimming pool.

He explained, “I did everything myself, from picking up the materials and transporting them into my garden to hiring a digger and digging the hole as well as the tiling and all of the plumbing.” This included picking up the materials and carrying them into his garden.

This is not his first time attempting a project on his own.

Alex has completed a number of do-it-yourself projects in the past, including building a home theater and a gym while saving a total of 75,000 pounds; but, this most recent endeavor is by far his most spectacular work to yet.

After relocating, Alex welcomed his partner Sarah, who works in human resources management, as well as their two young children, Allie and Eddie, into his house.

The man has been quite busy lately remodeling the house where his family lives by tearing everything out and beginning from scratch.

Alex always knew he wanted to create his own swimming pool, and after viewing a portion of his backyard that appeared to be in need of some TLC, he decided to start a pastime in do-it-yourself (DIY) construction.

After that, the man made it a point to educate himself on everything by himself.

The construction of the swimming pool was a challenge.

However, Alex grossly misjudged how difficult it would be to construct a pool. He said, “During my lunch break, I watched a video on YouTube showing someone creating a pool, and later that day, I was on the phone making arrangements to hire a mini digger.

I had always imagined that after the house was remodeled, I would be able to enjoy a swimming pool, and I had even set aside a little area where I hoped to one day construct one.”

After watching a video on YouTube in which a woman in Holland constructs a pool, I became convinced that this was something I wanted to undertake myself.

Covid put his idea on hold for a few months. But after that, he went on with it and completed it in the end. Alex continued by saying, “I did everything all by myself, from loading up my car with all of the materials and driving them home to resurfacing the ground to make it flat.”
