The ‘Grease’ Legend’s Family Olivia Newton-John Makes a Heartbreaking Announcement on Facebook

Olivia Newton-family John’s, made tragic news on her official Facebook page on August 8.

Just 25 minutes ago, a statement on the verified Facebook page announced the adored superstar’s death. Newton-John is perhaps best recognized for her performance as Sandy in the cult film Grease.

Before her death, Newton-John was battling breast cancer.

“Dame Olivia Newton-John, 73, died quietly this morning at her Ranch in Southern California, surrounded by family and friends. We respectfully request that everyone respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

“Olivia has been a symbol of achievements and hopes for over 30 years, sharing her struggle with breast cancer,” the statement reads. Her therapeutic inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine live on through the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, which is dedicated to studying plant medicine and cancer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund in her memory.”

Her dear husband, John Easterling, who she has been married to since 2008, wrote the message. “Olivia is survived by her husband, John Easterling; her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi; her sister, Sarah Newton-John; her brother, Toby Newton-John; nieces and nephews Tottie, Fiona, and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall, and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tash Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall.”
