Snoop Dogg’s Grandkid Who Passed Away Lives on in Memory – Meet His 7 Grandchildren

Snoop Dogg’s Grandkid Who Passed away Lives on in Memory

Snoop Dogg, whose birth name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has crafted a flourishing career that extends well beyond the realm of music. His life is a testament to his commitment as a devoted family man. Together with his wife, Shante Broadus, to whom he has been married since 1997, Snoop has raised four children: Corde, now 30; Cordell, 27; Cori, 25; and Julian, 26, who is from a previous relationship.

Over time, Snoop’s family has expanded, and he now relishes his role as a grandfather. Each of his grandchildren occupies a special place in his heart, but he holds dear the memory of one grandchild who has passed away.

Back in 2007, Snoop Dogg offered a glimpse into his family values while discussing his reality television show, “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.” This show sought to shed light on a lesser-seen aspect of hip-hop artists, portraying them as devoted family men.

In an interview with “People,” Snoop emphasized the significance of sharing his music with his kids, saying, “I got kids, and I always play my music for them. I like to hear what they like. They think I’m old, but I think I’m young.”

He further reflected on his role as a father, stating, “Ninety percent of rappers grew up without fathers, but you see ninety percent of those rappers becoming fathers to their kids. We don’t ever get commended for that. We become real men when we reach this level we’re at right now.”

As a coach for Season 26 of “The Voice,” Snoop continues to be a hands-on presence in his ever-growing family. In a 2015 interview with “Today,” he expressed humility regarding his parenting. He rate himself “about a 7-plus” as a father, acknowledging areas for improvement.

“My relationship with my kids is more important than anything. It’s a friendship relationship… it’s based on me being a father, a mentor, and a friend,” noted Snoop.

When it comes to grandparenting, Snoop has chosen a more indulgent path, describing himself as a “gullible, get-away-with-everything kind of grandpa.”

Recalling his first grandparenting experience, Snoop shared, “It’s just a spark of joy just to look in his eyes and to be able to hold him. I thank my oldest son for making me a grandfather.”

The rapper of “Boss’ Life” holds his extended family at the core of his existence. In January 2024, he discussed his grandchildren on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” illustrating the unique bond he shares with each, as they affectionately call him “Papa Snoop.” This endearing nickname originated from a young child’s mispronunciation.

Snoop affectionately recalled, “My grandkids are different ages, ranges, and sizes, and I love them all the same way. Actually, my oldest grandson’s birthday is today, so I’m heading to celebrate with him as soon as I leave here.” The tale of the first grandchild, who called him “Papa Noop” before perfecting “Snoop,” is a heartwarming memory that he cherishes.

Even amidst the happiness brought by his growing family, Snoop faced the heart-wrenching pain of losing a grandchild. This loss affected not only him but the whole family profoundly.

How Did Snoop Dogg’s Little Grandson Pass Away?

In September 2019, Snoop’s grandson, Kai Love, tragically passed away at the tender age of just 10 days. Through social media, Snoop conveyed a message filled with emotion, encapsulating the trust in divine wisdom during trying times.

His post resonated with many, with virtual hearts and empathetic words of condolence pouring in from people worldwide. One touching comment read, “Soooo sorry for the loss of your grandbaby… Children are such a precious gift from God but sometimes he takes them back… sweet precious little Kai RIP… God bless and comfort all who love him…❤️🙏🏻” Another wrote, “Sorry for your loss. God Bless🙏🏽🙏🏽.”

Kai’s parents, Corde Broadus and Soraya Love, struggled with deep grief following his passing. On what would have been Kai’s fourth birthday, Soraya posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, vulnerably sharing her pain and her newfound life mission.

She wrote, “Happy heavenly birthday to my 1st son Kai Love who passed away 9-15-2019,” continuing on to reveal the struggles of losing a child to a congenital heart condition. Soraya explained, “I know God used this painful time in our families life, knowing I will use that to help those in need of that knowledge of GOD and SELF.”

Soraya’s poignant words reflected how her son’s demise drove her toward a meaningful life devoted to wellness, higher spirituality, and community outreach.

“The pain of losing a child you created in YOUR body is a very traumatic feeling that never goes away,” she shared, “since that moment God has guided my steps and shown me a deeper soul purpose for my kids and those around me.”

She continued, “To get close to God, develop better heart health through lifestyle decisions, relationship priorities, family balance, generational barrier-breaking, food choices, self-love, and serving those in need of help mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

Kai’s life and legacy inspired his parents, Corde and Soraya, to establish the “Kai Heart Foundation,” dedicated to love and recovery through community care.

In a December 2022 post, Soraya detailed the foundation’s noble efforts: “Started Kai Heart Foundation in 2019 after my son Kai passed away at 10 days from a heart defect…He inspired me to help other mothers, men, women, and children in the world through acts of LOVE + a healthy lifestyle.”

She expressed her profound gratitude for the guidance she senses from Kai and her faith, inviting those touched by their cause to join in. “Today was magical. Love you all, and if you want to donate for the next event, let me know 🙏🏽💜☀️”
