Snoop Dogg, whose birth name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has crafted a flourishing career that extends well beyond the realm of music. In September 2019, Snoop’s grandson, Kai Love, tragically passed away at the tender age of just 10 days. Through social media, Snoop conveyed a message filled with emotion, encapsulating the trust in divine wisdom during trying times.
His post resonated with many, with virtual hearts and empathetic words of condolence pouring in from people worldwide. Kai’s parents, Corde Broadus and Soraya Love, struggled with deep grief following his passing. On what would have been Kai’s fourth birthday, Soraya posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, vulnerably sharing her pain and her newfound life mission.
She wrote, “Happy heavenly birthday to my 1st son Kai Love who passed away 9-15-2019,” continuing on to reveal the struggles of losing a child to a congenital heart condition. Soraya explained, “I know God used this painful time in our families life, knowing I will use that to help those in need of that knowledge of GOD and SELF.”
Soraya’s poignant words reflected how her son’s demise drove her toward a meaningful life devoted to wellness, higher spirituality, and community outreach.
“The pain of losing a child you created in YOUR body is a very traumatic feeling that never goes away,” she shared, “since that moment God has guided my steps and shown me a deeper soul purpose for my kids and those around me.”
She continued, “To get close to God, develop better heart health through lifestyle decisions, relationship priorities, family balance, generational barrier-breaking, food choices, self-love, and serving those in need of help mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
Kai’s life and legacy inspired his parents, Corde and Soraya, to establish the “Kai Heart Foundation,” dedicated to love and recovery through community care.
In a December 2022 post, Soraya detailed the foundation’s noble efforts: “Started Kai Heart Foundation in 2019 after my son Kai passed away at 10 days from a heart defect…He inspired me to help other mothers, men, women, and children in the world through acts of LOVE + a healthy lifestyle.”
