Background and Family

Born on November 6, 1946, in Pasadena, California, Sally Field comes from a family with a background in the entertainment industry. Her mother, Margaret Field (born Morlan), was also an actress, while her father, Richard Dryden Field, worked as a salesman. After her parents divorced, her mother married actor and stuntman Jock Mahoney. Sally Field has a brother named Richard Field and a half-sister named Princess O’Mahoney, both of whom are still alive.

Relationships and Family Life

In 1968, Sally Field married Steven Craig, and together they had two sons, Peter and Eli. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 1975. Later, in 1984, she married Alan Greisman, and they welcomed a son named Samuel. Unfortunately, this marriage also ended in divorce in 1994.

During the years from 1976 to 1980, she was in a relationship with Burt Reynolds. In her memoir, she shares the challenges she faced in this relationship, including Reynolds’ controlling behavior. She recalls how he convinced her not to attend the Emmy ceremony where she won for her role in “Sybil.” Reynolds, who passed away shortly before the release of her book, expressed regret over their failed relationship in his own memoir, referring to it as “the biggest regret of my life” in his 2015 publication “But Enough About Me.”

Sally Field has disclosed that she and Burt Reynolds did not communicate for 30 years before his passing. She emphasized, “He was not someone I could be around.” Being with him brought her no joy or happiness. Reynolds held false beliefs about their relationship, thinking she held a more significant place in his life than she actually did. Sally Field chose not to engage with such notions, prioritizing her own well-being above all else.

Continuing Success

Today, Sally Field proudly displays her Oscars and Emmys in a TV room where she enjoys playing video games with her grandchildren. Far from retiring, she continues to captivate audiences with her upcoming film “Spoiler Alert,” set to release next week, and “80 for Brady,” slated for 2023.

“Being an actor, Sally dared this town to put her in a box, and then she just smashed through every rule to find her own way. Not just to stardom, which she probably wouldn’t like, but to great roles in amazing movies and TV shows,” said her friend Steven Spielberg, director of “Lincoln.”
