In 2022, Nick Mavar initiated a lawsuit against his employer, F/V Northwestern. He claimed to have endured severe and permanent injuries after rupturing his appendix while working on the ship. Subsequent to the incident, Nick experienced recurring bouts of pain and discomfort. Feeling that his employer had not provided prompt and adequate medical care, he sought justice for the consequences he faced.

Complicating matters further, a cancerous tumor was discovered in Nick’s appendix, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
