Reba McEntire Opens Up About Her Mothers’ Passing And Finding New Love in 2020

2020 has been a difficult year for many people. Many have experienced emotional turmoil this year, and one of those who can attest to this is Reba McEntire.

On March 14, Reba’s mom, Jacqueline, died of cancer at 93-years-old. Jacqueline has been battling cancer with her loved ones staying by her side. Her death happened when the United States started implementing shutdowns due to the COVID-19 crisis.

And because of this, Reba was not able to properly lay her mother to her final resting place until weeks after her death. And it was done through a private memorial service.

Reba said, “It was a true blessing… It really was. ” She added, “I got to stay there at Momma’s house and help … clean everything out. We had so many great times, going through drawers and boxes, and found pictures we’d never seen before, and we cried, we laughed, we toasted Momma.

It was just an absolute, huge blessing to get to do that. We’ve been going so fast, so furious for so long. I am so thankful for this quarantine time”

But despite the pain and grief that she felt for the loss of her mother, 2020 was not all that bad to Reba. in fact, she found a new love this year when she started dating actor Rex Linn.

Reba met him on the set of Young Sheldon back in January. Since then, they kept in touch virtually throughout the year while the world is battling with the coronavirus.

While at home, she quietly started dating again. Reba even talked about her love life on her podcast, Living & Learning. She said that they went on their first date back in January. Reba explained, “Getting back in the dating world for me is fun and exciting.”

She said, “My heart goes out to the folks who have been ill, who have lost loved ones, but it has been wonderful for me. To get to be with my little sister the way we were for the last two months is priceless. I’ve loved it, every minute of it.”

For Reba, she only imagines that her parents are now reunited in heaven. Her dad, Clark McEntire passed away in 2014. And through the pain and struggles that she has been through, she leans into her faith. And Reba is also encouraging everyone who is in a similar state, to do the same.

Reba explained, “They can always turn to God, have their faith really step up and take control, and believe that there’s going to be a better day. When you can, take this time to stop, smell the roses and just reconfirm why you’re here, and just take time for your family, your friends.”

During her interview with Country Music Association Awards cohost, Darius Rucker, for ABC’s Country Song 2020: Countdown to the CMA Awards, Reba talked a bit about her mother. She said, “Momma was a show dog. She liked the whole court and she liked to have an audience, so we’re going to give her that one of these days.

I don’t know when it’s gonna be, but it’s gonna be good and something that she deserves. ”

Reba cannot wait for things to slowly go back to normal. By then, she said that she would be able to celebrate her Momma in a bigger and better way.
