Prince William’s Childhood Memory of Tina Turner Song

Prince William Once Revealed Tina Turner Song Mom Princess Diana Would Sing in the Car

Prince William recently shared a heartwarming childhood memory of his late mother, Princess Diana. In a special episode of Apple Fitness+’s Time to Walk series, the prince took listeners on a walk through Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate while reminiscing about meaningful moments in his life. And one of those moments involved a song by Tina Turner.

When Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, were attending boarding school, their mother would play songs in the car to help ease their back-to-school anxieties. One song, in particular, has stayed with William throughout the years – Tina Turner’s “The Best.” He still secretly enjoys the song because it reminds him of those precious family moments in the car.

“I massively remember…sitting in the backseat, singing away, it felt like a real family moment. And my mother, she’d be driving along, singing at the top of her voice,” William shared. Even the occasional policeman who joined them in the car would sing along. The songs created a sense of togetherness and comfort as they approached the school gates.

To this day, whenever Prince William listens to “The Best,” it takes him back to those car rides and brings back cherished memories of his mother. Now, as a father himself to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, William creates special music moments with his own children. There’s even a morning battle between Charlotte and George over which song to play, but William ensures that everyone gets their turn.

In the episode, Prince William also revealed two other favorite songs – Shakira’s “Waka Waka” and AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.” He described how the energetic beats of AC/DC’s song are the perfect Monday morning pick-me-up, helping him start the week with enthusiasm and confidence.

Through his participation in the Time to Walk series, Prince William aimed to promote mental and physical well-being, aligning with his ongoing efforts to raise awareness about better mental health practices. He described the experience as walking with a best mate or his wife, sharing personal feelings and connecting with listeners on a deeper level.

Prince William’s fond memories of his mother and the songs they enjoyed together serve as a reminder of the importance of creating special moments with loved ones and the lasting impact they can have on our lives.
