Pierce Brosnan’s difficult childhood included sharing a room with three men; now, he’s providing a better life for his family in a 12,500-square-foot mansion.

Pierce Brosnan’s legacy as an actor is self-evident. Pierce is best known for portraying secret agent 007 James Bond in the film franchise, which he did in four films between 1995 and 2002.

Aside from his breakout role, the Irish actor has a diverse filmography that spans almost every genre. From comedies like “Mrs. Doubtfire” to action films like “Bond” and other hits like “The Thomas Crown Affair” and “Dante’s Peak,” Pierce has proven himself to be a talented performer.

In the “Mamma Mia!” franchise, he even dazzled us with his musical abilities. Pierce is still acting regularly and appeared in a DC Comics film as the superhero Doctor Fate in the July 2022 release “Black Adam,” for which he was nominated for two Golden Globes.

Pierce is a legendary actor in his own right and is still a household name today β€” but few are aware that his childhood was extremely difficult. Pierce was an only child whose father abandoned him when he was young, and his mother had to work in England to support him while his maternal grandparents raised him in Ireland.

Pierce stated, in his own words, “There were no brothers or sisters. I was the only child in a broken family. My father left for the hills very early in the morning.” This experience, however, has made him appreciate and love his current family even more.

The father of five and adoring husband is grateful for his life, and even though he struggled to find his way to fame, he is grateful for the family bonds he has today.

Pierce is an Irish actor best known for his portrayal of secret agent James Bond in four James Bond films: “GoldenEye,” “Tomorrow Never Dies,” “The World Is Not Enough,” and “Die Another Day.” He has also played the character in several video games in the same universe.

Pierce, born on May 16, 1953, in Drogheda, Ireland, had no idea what kind of life he’d lead. The young boy, who had a fairly solitary childhood, saw his first James Bond film at the cinema when he was 11 years old, but he had no idea what impact the character would have on his life.

Pierce was born to May, a nurse, and Thomas Brosnan, a carpenter, according to the Irish Times. Pierce grew up in Navan, Ireland, where he spent the first ten years of his life. Pierce considers Navan his hometown and maintains his Irish citizenship to this day.

Pierce’s father abandoned him as an infant, and because his mother worked as a nurse in London, he was raised by his maternal grandparents, according to The Guardian. In the interview, he stated, “I was an outsider because I was so solitary, and we lived on the outskirts of town, across the River Boyne. I am an only child.”

He was forced to live in lodgings after his grandparents died.

According to the actor, “I was assigned to live with a woman named Eileen, who lived in a slum area of town. She had children, so I moved upstairs with the lodgers, who were all grown men with jobs… My little bed was at the far end of the room, with a curtain around it to keep the light out when the older guys came home.”

This is not an easy life for a young boy. According to The Guardian, Pierce was educated at a strict Christian Brothers school while staying at the lodgings. Unfortunately, his time in this environment was disastrous.

He remembered “(They) were dreadful, dreadful human beings” and added, “Just the whole hypocrisy. And the cruelty with which they treat children. They were sexually oppressed. It was hideous. The Christian Brothers taught me nothing but shame.”

His fortunes would soon change when he joined his mother and her new husband in East Lothian in 1964, and the family would soon relocate to London. Though London would prove to be a great opportunity for Pierce in the future, he was bullied as a child. According to The Guardian, he was nicknamed “Irish” at school. “They don’t let you forget being an Irish immigrant in London in 1964.”

Pierce also stated in a 1997 interview with Cigar Aficionado,

“As an Irish boy of ten, life moves pretty quickly when you visit a large city such as London. From a small school with seven classrooms in Ireland to this massive, comprehensive school with over 2,000 students. You’re also Irish. And they make you feel it; the British have a wonderful way of doing that, and I felt like an outsider.”

However, as time passed, Pierce settled into his life and a group of friends and realized what he wanted to do with his life:

“I aspired to be a commercial artist as well as an artist. I’m still here, and I’m still painting, “said the celebrity.

At 16, his passion for art led him away from school and into a promising career as a commercial artist. His love of art continued to pervade his life even as he climbed his way into the hearts of people all over the world as a rising star in the 1990s.

He first studied painting at Saint Martin’s School of Art in London before shifting his focus to acting at the Drama Centre London. He described his feelings about becoming an actor as follows:

“It was a liberation when I discovered acting, or when acting discovered me. It was a stepping stone into another life, away from the one I had, and acting was something I was good at and liked. That was a huge accomplishment in my life.”

Pierce began his career in the theater after graduation before appearing in films in the 1980s. In 1982, he received his first Golden Globe nomination and relocated to the United States, where his career flourished. By 1995, he’d landed the role propelling him to stardom: James Bond in the franchise’s 17th installment, “GoldenEye.”

Pierce said of landing the coveted role of James Bond, ” “I’m not sure if there was any divine intervention. I’m not sure what it was. I had the desire, the passion, and the drive. And I had a little talent on my side. Remington (Steele) was a real calling card for me to play Bond, but I couldn’t get rid of him.”

He said, “But it was fate that the opportunity would come back around with ‘Goldeneye.’ It’s got to be Irish luck on my side.”

When considering the character’s history, Pierce’s Bond was a standout, and it’s interesting to note that he was directly inspired by the original Bond himself β€” Sean Connery. He revealed this in an Instagram post in honor of Connery’s 90th birthday in 2020, writing:

“I saw ‘Goldfinger’ at the ABC Cinema on Putney High Street when I was 11 years old, fresh off the plane from Ireland. You were my inspiration Bond.”

Pierce handed over the reins to current Bond Daniel Craig in 2002 after four Bond films, and since then, he’s shown the world just how versatile he is as an actor, taking on other action, comedy, and even musical roles.

He’s also spent more time with his family, including his wife of nearly 20 years, Keely Shaye Smith. Pierce and Smith first met in Cabo San Lucas in 1994, when Smith was on assignment with actor Ted Danson and Pierce were on vacation with friends.

After meeting at a beach party, they hit it off and went on their first date a few days later, where they “sat down under the stars” as Pierce held Keely’s hand while Kenny Loggins sang. They stayed up talking until three a.m. and have been together ever since. As they say, the rest is history.

The happy couple is also the parents of two boys, Dylan Brosnan, born in 1997, and Paris Brosnan, born in 2001. Pierce has three children from his previous marriage to Cassandra Harris: Chris, Sean, and Charlotte Brosnan, who, like her mother, died of ovarian cancer.

Pierce lives in a stunning, luxurious 12,500-square-foot coastal mansion that embodies the Malibu lifestyle. The stunning “Orchid House” beachfront home incorporates South East Asian styles surrounded by lush greenery and foliage.

The magnificent property is surrounded by lush greenery, rolling hills, and the Pacific Ocean, making it the ideal setting for a relaxing coastal lifestyle. The mansion has four bedrooms, an outdoor guest house, three kitchens, a saltwater pool, a large theater room, and a spa.

The stunning architecture of the property immediately draws your attention as you approach it. With clean lines, natural materials, and an open-plan layout that seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living spaces, the house has a modern and minimalist design.

The entrance leads to a large, open-plan living room with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the ocean beyond.

The kitchen is the heart of the home and a great place to entertain guests. It has high-end appliances, such as a six-burner stove, a double oven, and a large center island with a sink and a breakfast bar. The kitchen leads to a large dining area, which is ideal for large family gatherings.

Orchid House’s outdoor spaces are just as impressive as the interior. The property, with its breathtaking views, open and airy spaces, and luxurious amenities, is the ideal place for Pierce to raise his lovely family, far from the memories of his deprived childhood.

If anything, he deserves to live in a comfortable home with his loved ones and give everything he himself never had.

The house will be listed for $100 million in September 2020. However, after receiving no offers, the actor decided to withdraw the property from the market in August 2021.

Pierce’s current marriage to Smith is one of the few in Hollywood that has lasted decades, and there appear to be no signs of a decline in their love and respect for one another. Pierce’s Instagram page demonstrates how important family is to him; the page is littered with photos of people who mean the most to him.

Pierce has continued to work in films while also devoting significant time to his art, and he has even created a studio space where he can escape when filming on location. Pierce and Smith made the best of a bad situation when the coronavirus pandemic forced a lockdown.

“Ironically. Because the island was under lockdown. I painted, grew vegetables, and swam. We did this every day. And Keely cooked meals for us, and we went for walks “Pierce elaborated.

In the interview, Pierce also discussed his relationship with his family. When asked if his lonely childhood influenced the kind of family man he is today, the father of five replied, “I suspect so.”

He went on, “Family is very important to me. I enjoy being a father. I grew up without a father figure or a stable family. There was a deep fracture, a sense of isolation, and a sense of aloneness, all of which used the wonderful power of my imagination. I had to rely solely on my senses and intuition.”

Throughout it all, he stressed the importance of his family.

“As a result, I value and cherish my family. Keely is an incredible mother and woman β€” I’ve watched her grow over 27 years, and our life together has just blossomed and grown. And there are many more dreams to come.”
