China is currently grappling with a mysterious viral outbreak, leading to crowded and overwhelmed hospitals reminiscent of the early COVID-19 days.
Local media have reported alarming videos surfacing on social platforms. These videos reveal hospitals teeming with patients, many wearing face masks.

The silence from the government and the unsettling hospital scenes have caused concern among viewers, reminding them of the initial stages of the COVID-19 crisis in China.
According to local news reports, the virus at the center of this outbreak might be HMPV, or Human Metapneumovirus, which typically results in a mild cold. However, no official confirmations have been made regarding this.
The current situation echoes the winter of 2022 and 2023 when a significant outbreak of mycoplasma pneumonia, a condition known as “white lung,” occurred. Despite its severity, it was generally considered mild.
Currently, the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that the regular flu appears to be a prominent outbreak, with 30% of cases testing positive for influenza. Additionally, one in seven people with the flu ends up hospitalized due to serious respiratory conditions.
