For a mother, thereโs nothing more heartbreaking than feeling excluded from her childโs life. A woman named Greta is utterly shattered after her son and daughter-in-law requested that she move out, claiming thereโs no longer space for her. What makes it even more painful is that they are living in Gretaโs own house. She shared her story with our editorial team and is seeking advice.

Below is what she shared
When my only son got married, I invited him and his wife to move in with me because my house is spacious, and I live alone. My daughter-in-law, Meredith, was thrilled.

However, after 4 years and 3 children, my daughter-in-law no longer wants me there, because the place is โtoo crowdedโ.
Additionally, she is pregnant again and with another baby on the way, they plan to allocate my room to the new baby. She has arranged for me to move into a small studio apartment not far from the house, and she has offered to cover the rent.
When I refused to leave my home, my son revealed, โAll this time, weโve silently felt uncomfortable, Mom, because we havenโt had as much privacy as a new couple would need.โ
I stood my ground, saying that this has been my house for the past 43 years and I wonโt leave it. But my son declared, โIf you donโt move out now, Mom, then we will, and you wonโt see your grandkids anymore.โ
Iโm devastated, feeling like my heart has been crushed and my reality shattered. What should I do?
Sincerely, Greta
