The 53-year-old Keanu Reeves has shared $100 million with the set and also the special effects crew who worked alongside him in his Matrix movies. He is very generous to others but little did we know that he does more than this. He is showing his kindness secretly without the need for the public to praise him.

This A-list actor may have been very successful at his craft even from the time that he was just starting out but his life was never easy. Reeves was raised by a single mother and he experienced the struggle of finishing high school. Despite his efforts, he failed, so he decided to pursue his acting career instead.

Yes, his movies were blockbuster hits and earned millions, but there were also big tragedies in his life. His love Jennifer Syme became pregnant but their dreams of becoming parents fell apart when their daughter was stillborn.

This tested their relationship and in the end, the two decided to split even though it was obvious that the actor was still deeply in love with her.

After 18 months of them separating, Jennifer was tragically killed in a car accident and this affected the actor deeply, not knowing how to go on with his life.

But he is a strong guy and he found comfort in helping other people.

Another storm came his way when his sister, Kim, was diagnosed with leukemia in 1991 and she battled with this disease for about a decade until she achieved remission a few years later.

Instead of feeling down, he used this to quietly start a foundation in her honor. He shared with Ladies Home Journal that this private foundation has been running for five or six years.

He said, “It helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research. I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does. ”

Cancer research is important to him but it is also very expensive. He told Hello! Magazine that money does not mean anything to him. He is giving lots away and he just lives a simple life.

“We all know that good health is much more important,” he said. He is generously giving his time and use his popularity to encourage other fans to become callers, donors, and participants in an effort to heal cancer.

Reeves never wanted attention. He is an extremely private person in spite of his fame. While other celebrities are more vocal about their philanthropy, Keanu just wants to keep it quiet when it comes to his good deeds.

All he wants is to genuinely help those who are desperate and unfortunate. For him, public awareness responsibility is more important than money.
