Justin Timberlake Playfully References DWI Incident During Boston Concert

“Is there anyone here tonight that is driving and … no, I’m just kidding,” Timberlake joked with his audience at the TD Garden.

Justin Timberlake seems to have turned a recent serious moment into a light-hearted one during his recent concert in Boston.

On Saturday evening, the charismatic Grammy winner engaged with his audience at the TD Garden during his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. The star casually referenced his June 18 DWI arrest in Sag Harbor, New York, with a fleeting yet memorable joke.

“So uh, is there anyone here tonight that is driving and … no I’m just kidding,” Timberlake said, alluding to the incident where he was stopped for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

The quick-witted quip was met with a chorus of laughter and applause from the nearly 20,000 spectators, allowing the mood to remain light and joyous. Timberlake promptly redirected the conversation by asking, “Is there anyone here tonight, that it’s your first time here to the show? Or maybe you’ve been to 1, 2, 3, maybe 4 of our shows?”

“For all of you that it’s your first time tonight — on a serious note — I hope that you feel the fellowship and the love,” he added, his tone shifting to a more sincere register.

This remark was a heartfelt nod to his dedicated supporters, invoking a sense of nostalgia and gratitude. Timberlake went on to reminisce about his nearly three-decade journey in the limelight. “For those of you that have been with me through all the weird haircuts … don’t act like y’all didn’t have bad haircuts! I took one for the team. Maybe like 3 or 4 for the team, but who’s counting?”

Indeed, Timberlake has often embraced a self-deprecating humor, endearing him further to his fans who’ve grown up alongside him.

His comments came amid ongoing legal proceedings following his June 18 arrest. The pop star was charged with one count of DWI and two citations—for allegedly running a stop sign and failing to stay within his lane. While Timberlake is scheduled to appear in court on July 26, the hearing will be virtual to accommodate his tour commitments in Europe.

According to the arrest report, an officer observed Timberlake’s 2025 BMW driving erratically before pulling him over. The singer reportedly told authorities, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.” His attorney, Edward Burke Jr., has asserted that Timberlake is prepared to vigorously contest the charges, stressing the singer’s intention to provide a thorough defense once full discovery is obtained from the DA’s office.

Despite the legal challenges, a source recently informed PEOPLE that Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel, remain focused on their work and family. “They have faith in their legal team and continue to focus on work and their family instead,” the insider revealed. “Jess would never miss a show when she’s able to attend. She’s excited for him. They’ve moved on from the arrest.”

The couple’s steadfast support for each other was evident, as Biel was seen dancing in the crowd during Timberlake’s performance at Madison Square Garden on June 25.

Clearly, no bump in the road can deter Timberlake from his professional pursuits. The show must go on, and he’s hitting the TD Garden stage again on Sunday, June 30.
