Johnny Depp is still ‘devastated’ by the death of Jeff Beck, with whom he once shared a home for ‘months and months and months.’

Johnny Depp is said to be ‘devastated’ by the death of legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, who died peacefully on January 10th. According to a source close to Depp, he is still processing this news,’ but he and several other rock stars and musicians visited Beck in the hospital before he died.

‘They had a close friendship, and he got even closer this summer when they were touring together. “The sickness struck quickly, and everything deteriorated rapidly in the last couple of weeks,” the source explained. Depp has yet to speak publicly about his death.

Beck and Depp have developed an incredibly close relationship in recent years, which was heightened by the release of their album, titled 18, on July 15, 2022, and the subsequent transatlantic tour, which saw them perform for 23 crowds in 21 different cities between October 1st and November 12th of last year.

When Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck were in the midst of their tour in October 2022, they sat down with Stevie Van Zandt for a SiriusXM Town Hall special. During the interview, Depp discusses a time in his life when Beck and Sandra, his wife, invited him to stay with them.

Van Zandt responded to an audience member’s question about what it was like for the two to be back on tour together. “For me, Jeff very simply and kindly took me into their house, and I lived with them for months and months and months,” Depp said in response to the question.

“So for me having had to deal with other things at the same time, once those things, you know, are down the road and you drop into the tour, it’s like you’re home. You are at home and feel at ease. “Like, where I can be myself,” he added, before Beck chimed in with a snarky and amusing remark.

Beck jokingly chastised Depp for finding a McDonald’s wrapper in the garbage can, to which they both laughed. “I’d been keeping that in my back pocket for weeks. “It was a cheeseburger,” Depp replied. “I was wondering where he got it, because we live 50 miles from the nearest McDonald’s,” Beck chuckled.

During the SiriusXM interview, Jeff Beck mentioned how he originally wanted to collaborate on a blues album with Johnny Depp. Unfortunately, Depp did not feel the same way and turned down the idea right away. Instead, they proceeded to record a rock album while drawing inspiration from various genres.

The collaboration began when Beck began working on a track at home. Depp had just walked in, awoken, and heard what Beck had put together. Depp recorded his three-part harmonies to the song while Beck was resting. When Beck awoke, he was taken aback by what Deep had done.

“It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the true greats and someone I am now privileged to call my brother,” Depp said ahead of the release of their album. Beck agreed, praising his collaboration with Depp in a separate statement.

“I haven’t had a creative partner like him in a long time. On this record, he was a major force. “I just hope people take him seriously as a musician because some people find it difficult to accept that Johnny Depp can sing rock and roll,” Beck said. May he rest in peace now that he’s gone.
