Eve Plumb, who many of you fondly remember as Jan Brady from “The Brady Bunch,” is now 64 years old and looks absolutely radiant with her new pixie cut. Eve didn’t set out to be a child star, but fate had other plans when she lived next door to a child agent. This serendipitous connection led her into a flourishing career in acting, starting with commercials and then moving on to hit TV shows like “The Great Valley” and “Lassie.” Her big break, though, came with her role as Jan on “The Brady Bunch.”
Notably, Eve’s journey wasn’t always smooth. Although she enjoyed significant fame as a child star, landing roles became more challenging as she grew older. She recalls, “So what happens once you stop being a beautiful child because you’ve grown up? If you aren’t prepared for it, it may be a really challenging experience.” Thankfully, Eve had a strong support system. Her father managed her career while her mother was always by her side, ensuring she stayed grounded.
Eve’s parents also managed her earnings wisely, investing them in savings accounts for her. She fondly recalls, “They never stole a single penny from me!” After “The Brady Bunch” ended in 1974, Eve went through a rather tough spell, auditioning for everything but finding it hard to secure new roles. Despite this, she’s forever grateful for the role that brought her so much joy and acknowledges that many of her fans still think of her as Jan Brady.
After the popular sitcom concluded, one notable role Eve secured was that of a young prostitute in the 1976 film “Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway.” However, it wasn’t until the 1990s that she truly reinvented herself as an artist, finding work at a recording studio in Laguna Beach. Eve treasures the control she has over her art, contrasting it with the uncertainties of acting where success hinged on others’ approvals. Her artwork became a canvas where she could express her unique vision freely.
Using her earnings wisely, Eve made one of her best investments at a very young age—buying a beach house in Malibu for $55,300 when she was just 11 years old. The property, styled as a cozy bungalow with three bedrooms and 1.75 bathrooms, offers breathtaking beach views and easy access to the ocean.
Eve was also the first among her Brady Bunch co-stars to get married. She tied the knot with Rick Mansfield in 1979, but they divorced in 1981. Later, she adopted a more thoughtful approach to relationships, deciding to be patient and discerning. Taking her mother’s advice, she would evaluate a relationship after three months to see if it was worth pursuing further.
When Eve met Ken Pace, he had his own rule: he wouldn’t consider marriage unless he’d known a person for at least a year. The pair found this rule beneficial, giving them time to truly understand each other and their families. Evidently, it worked, as they married in 1995 and have been happily together ever since.
