Mel Gibson has performed in many fantastic films, like The Passion of the Christ and Braveheart, but his most important position will always be that of a father to his nine amazing children.

He and his ex-wife, Robyn Moore Gibson, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Hannah Gibson, in 1980. Following Hannah’s birth, the couple had six more children together until divorcing in 2011 after 31 years of marriage.

After they divorced, Mel began dating the Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva, who soon gave birth to his ninth child. Although they broke up in 2010, Mel went on to meet his current partner, screenwriter Rosalind Ross.

Fans believed he was done having children, but in 2017, the couple welcomed their son, Lars Gibson. The Ransom actor previously remarked to The Sunday Times magazine regarding parenting, “As a parent, everybody screws up.”

“There is no such thing as a perfect parent, and mistakes are so simple to make. I’ve hopefully made fewer mistakes than most, though.

Milo Gibson, Mel’s son, doesn’t think his father was a particularly bad parent. In fact, he claimed that when he told his father about his interest for acting, he received a lot of encouragement from him to pursue acting as a career.

As Milo previously told The Hollywood Reporter, “My dad was always a big promoter of doing what you like to do, and constantly doing new things and trying new things, but do what you love.”

“And I took action. I worked at a variety of jobs, but none of them were things I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And I really adore acting, for which I have a great deal of passion.

Milo has been in many excellent movies since he began acting in 2016 including Hacksaw Ridge, Breaking & Exiting, and Brother’s Keeper. He hasn’t received an Oscar yet, but he will soon, thanks to the fact that he heeds the wise counsel his father provided him.

When you’re working, Milo added, “be true to your character and resemble them as much as possible, and of course have fun.” This advice from Milo’s father has lasted with him.

“Forget that there is a camera. They say the camera is your best friend, but I find it most useful when I forget it’s even there because if I’m conscious of it, I’m not being completely honest with myself. Thus, he advised being truthful.

Mel wants his children to realize all of their potentials.

Hannah Gibson

In 1980, Hannah was born. She once worked as the makeup artist on the television show What Women Want, which starred her father but she didn’t pursue a career in acting like him.

Hannah married the musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd in 2006; he can be seen standing next to her in the picture above. The couple has three kids together: a girl and two sons.

Christian Gibson

One of Mel’s twin sons, Christian, was born in 1982. He is currently employed in Hollywood as a camera operator. Additionally, he has collaborated with his father on projects like Daddy’s Home 2 and Hacksaw Ridge.

Edward Gibson

Christian’s twin Edward, shown in the image above on the right, leads a more secluded life than his similar-looking sibling. Natural Edge, a business that creates bespoke wood slab furniture, was founded by Edward.

Thomas Gibson

William, Mel’s third son, was born in 1985. There aren’t any pictures of William because he leads a rather secluded life. His parents can be seen in the photo up top attending the 69th Academy Awards in 1997.

Louis Gibson

Have you ever heard of the movie Happy Hunting? Louis, who was born in 1988, wrote and directed it because it is obvious that he likes to be in front of the camera and spend less time there.

Gibson, Milo

Milo, who was born in 1990, wants to be an actor like his father. He will play the lead in the movie Manifest West in 2021.

Gibson, Thomas

Mel and Thomas, his youngest kid with Robyn, may be seen in this throwback photo from 2007. Mel’s child earned a degree from college in 2017.

Gibson, Lucia

Lucia, the couple’s sole child, was born in 2009 but is seldom ever seen in public.

Theo Gibson

2017 saw the birth of Mel’s youngest kid with his current partner, Rosalind. Just five weeks after Lars’ birth, his parents can be seen in this photo at the 89th Academy Awards.
