In Memory of Guy: Prince Harry’s Wife Meghan Mourns the Passing of Her Beloved Adopted Pet

In a touching moment shared on Instagram, Meghan Markle, along with her husband Prince Harry and their children, reflected on the memorable times they spent with their cherished pet, Guy, who has sadly passed away.

On January 7, 2025, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that her beloved beagle, Guy, had passed away.

Through an emotional video on social media, Meghan recounted some of the joyful experiences the family had with Guy. From beachside romps and garden adventures to cozy times in the kitchen, Guy was a beloved part of their family.

In the heartfelt caption accompanying the video, Meghan shared the touching story of how Guy became a part of her life. In 2015, she discovered Guy at a County Animal Shelter in Kentucky, where he was just moments away from being euthanized.

“I couldn’t leave him there…. and just like that, I fell in love,” Meghan reminisced. “He was fondly called ‘the little guy’ because of his tiny and fragile frame, so I named him ‘Guy.’ He truly was the most wonderful companion I could have wished for.”

Meghan fondly reminisced about how Guy stayed by her side through all the stages of her life. He was there for her during her time on the hit show “Suits,” throughout her engagement and marriage to Prince Harry, and alongside her as she embraced motherhood. Meghan and Prince Harry are parents to Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.

Guy was a constant presence, witnessing all the significant events and celebrations. “In times of peace, chaos, tranquility, and comfort,” Meghan reflected on their bond.

Meghan also recounted the challenging health hurdles Guy faced before her move to the UK. Due to a severe accident, Guy underwent multiple surgeries and spent many months in a clinic. His recovery journey, which seemed impossible at first, was miraculous.

With heartfelt thanks, Meghan expressed gratitude towards Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick and his team, as well as the Queen West Animal Hospital in Toronto, along with all the veterinarians and friends who supported them throughout Guy’s recovery journey.

Meghan wanted the world to know of Guy’s passing as he will feature in her upcoming Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.” With hopes, she mentioned, “I wish to share the love and bond I had with him, and perhaps you’ll feel a bit of that love too.”

Her sorrow was palpable as Meghan penned, “The tears have been countless – those kinds of tears where you step into the shower almost wishing that the water will somehow wash away the pain. But they are there. And that is alright.”

Meghan rounded off her emotional tribute by expressing deep appreciation for the boundless love she received from Guy throughout the years. “My sweet Guy,” she lamented, “You brought joy into my life in ways you will never fully understand ❤️‍🩹.”
