In a rare public appearance, Michael J. Fox delivers heartbreaking news.

Michael J. Fox, who played Marty McFly in Back to the Future, has disclosed that his mother, Phyllis Fox, died two weeks ago, on September 24, at the age of 92.

The MailOnline reports that Michael, 61, revealed the depressing news at the weekend’s 2022 New York Comic Con while making a rare public appearance.

The actor recalled a humorous incident involving his late mother and clarified: “She was in Canada when I contacted her at the age of 23, and I told her, “They want me to do this Steven Spielberg movie, but I have to do Family Ties in the daytime.” You’ll be too exhausted, she retorted.”

Added he, “My mum still believed that doing Back to the Future was a terrible idea up until two weeks ago. She enjoyed the film, but she was right that I grew weary.”

Michael himself has struggled with Parkinson’s disease since being diagnosed at the age of 29, thus Phyllis was committed to bringing attention to these diseases.

Since receiving his diagnosis, Michael has dedicated his life to finding a treatment. He collaborated with AARP on a moving film that he published earlier this year on his Instagram account.

He revealed it at Comic Con, when he saw Christopher Lloyd again.

In the video, he describes: “In 2018, I experienced a serious problem. I was sitting on the floor, contemplating. Well, this is simply horrible; this optimism [crap] stinks. As I eventually got over it, I realized that optimism is tenable if you can find something for which to be thankful.”

In the video, when speaking about his mother, he said: “My dad was a police dispatcher, and my mother worked in payroll. Although they were just average people with a crazy son who was born and accomplished all this acting and music, they figured out how to aid me despite not knowing where I came from.”

The celebrity is so dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

He went on to say in the video: “All we want is for Parkinson’s to be cured. I couldn’t have sat here for this long fifteen years ago.”

Since retiring from performing at the age of 29, the celebrity has raised more than $1 billion through his foundation, The Michael J. Fox foundation, to support research towards a treatment for Parkinson’s disease.
