Hoda Kotb Emotionally Recalls Receiving the Text from the Adoption Agency About Her Daughter Haley: “I Knew It”

Hoda Kotb discusses her discovery that her daughter Haley was up for adoption after beginning the motherhood process.

Hoda Kotb is talking openly about her experience with adoption.

In a recent episode of the podcast Just B with Bethenny Frankel, the Today co-host, 58, discussed her concern that she may outlive her time for parenting.

“I think when you realize that wasn’t meant for you, or you think that at least initially, it’s a terrifying part of life because you have to face it,” she added. I recall never publicly declaring my desire to have children because it was too late.

It would be best if you didn’t say it to girls for whom it is already too late since, by doing so, you would be expressing an idea that you will never be able to grasp.

Additionally, Kotb recalls a buddy turning to her while strolling through the Hamptons and saying, “Well, we never wanted kids.”

The journalist claimed, “And I paused, looked at her, and said, ‘I did. She then remarked, “You’ve never said that,” to which I replied, “Because it can’t be.” I couldn’t believe I had spoken it out loud.

When it was over, she remembered, “Everywhere I looked, I saw a sign that it was possible,” adding, “Maybe there’s a kid that needs me.”

She described the procedure as follows: “I filled out all the paperwork and did everything that you do, and they’re like, ‘Okay, maybe a year, maybe six months, maybe five years, bye.

Then, Kotb recalled the phone call he had received regarding his daughter Haley Joy, now six years old, who has since been joined by her sister Hope Catherine, three.

“I was going on and on over the phone with a dietitian while I sat there discussing things. When my phone rang, I instantly saw Ashley, who I recognized as the representative from my adoption agency, telling me to call her right away if she ever texted me.

“I heard her name, hung up the phone, pulled out a yellow pad, and wrote, ’11:55. I was aware that everything was about to change at this point,” she said. “I inhaled deeply, dialed the number, and when I asked for Ashley, she responded with only two words. ‘She’s here,’ she said.

She added through tears, “I don’t know what birth feels like, and I suppose it was fantastic, but this was extremely close. I still vividly recall that sensation.”
