In the popular TV series MAS*H, actor Gary Burghoff won the hearts of the audience with his endearing character Radar. As a young newcomer with his teddy bear by his side, he quickly became everyone’s beloved companion. Throughout the show’s run, Gary achieved great success, solidifying his personal brand. However, despite his accomplishments, a sense of underappreciation led him to contemplate leaving the series, leaving devoted fans disheartened.

Now celebrating his 80th birthday, Gary has entered a new chapter in his personal life. In 1985, he married Elizabeth Bolstrom, marking his second marriage. Gary’s children, Miles and Jordan, have recently become parents themselves, making him a proud first-time grandfather.

On March 23, 2023, Miles and his spouse welcomed a baby girl into the world. Overflowing with joy, Miles shared the news through an Instagram snapshot, capturing his expectant wife embracing her unmistakable baby bump. Following her arrival, Miles generously shared captivating images of his wife and daughter on various social media platforms. One particularly heartwarming image showed him tenderly cradling his newborn daughter.

The baby was named Rylee Elisabeth Burghoff, and Miles proudly declared that he had welcomed “the most incredible 8-pound bundle of joy” into his life.

Gary has a close relationship with his son Miles, despite Miles not having his father’s acting talent. They do, however, share a love for fishing. Miles decided to pursue a career as a professional fisherman with the support and encouragement of his father, whom he regards as his “mentor and partner” in fishing, a shared passion between them both.

The significance of fishing to Gary and Miles was evident when Gary won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 1977. Coincidentally, Gary received the award while Miles was away on a fishing expedition. Reflecting on the situation, Gary humorously remarked, “My once-in-a-lifetime moment, and I happened to be out fishing at the time.”

Besides his acting career, Gary has also been involved in charitable endeavors. He supported the GoFundMe campaign to aid individuals affected by the California fires four years ago. Gary participated in a video and made a personal contribution. His fans were delighted by his involvement, remarking on his lasting impact as a beloved actor from their childhood.
