Elizabeth Hubbard, known for her roles in ‘As The World Turns’ and ‘The Doctors,’ died at 89.

Elizabeth Hubbard died at the age of 89.

The soap actress’s son announced her death on Monday morning on Facebook. “With a broken heart, I’m sorry to say that my mother passed away over the weekend,” Jeremy Bennett posted with a photo of Hubbard.

“Thank you for being a solid rock that guided me through life,” he said. “I will do my best to honor your memory for the rest of my life.” With love and prayers. Jeremy”

There was no mention of an immediate cause of death.

Following Hubbard’s death, her TV daughter Martha Byrne paid tribute to her mother on Instagram. “As many of you are learning this morning, Elizabeth Hubbard died. First and foremost, I want everyone to know that I made certain she knew how much everyone loved her. Every time I saw her, I would share your social media comments, videos, and good recollections of her as Lucinda, Althea,” wrote Byrne, who worked with Hubbard on As the World Turns.

“She adored the audience and fought tooth and nail to bring truth and honesty to her performances.” There are no words to convey how much she meant to me personally. Only sentiments, which in many cases take precedence over terms regarding love,” she went on. “I will share more so that we can all grieve together, but here are our last words just a few days ago.” ‘Liz, do you realize how much you’ve done for me?’ I asked. ‘You can do more,’ she remarked. She is correct; I CAN AND WILL DO MORE because of what she has done for me over the previous 38 years, the strength and fearlessness with which she has lived her life.”

“I look forward to sharing more about her life, which encompasses so much more than her INCREDIBLE career on daytime television,” Byrne continued. When I told her how much her supporters adored her, she also said… ‘I attempted.’ She gave it her all. She left everything on the screen. I’ll miss her daily, but I’m thankful the universe blessed me with such a natural force that the world will never see again.”

Hubbard was well recognized for her role as Dr. Althea Davis on The Doctors, which aired from 1964 until 1982. She was in a total of 2741 episodes of the show.

She is particularly well-known for her role as Lucinda Walsh in the television series As the World Turns, which aired from 1975 until 2010. She appeared in the show’s 1975 episodes.

Her most recent on-screen performance was as Eva Montgomery in nine episodes of the serial opera Anacostia, which aired between 2015 and 2018.

Hubbard received 11 Daytime Emmy nods for her success on daytime television. In 1974, she received a Daytime Emmy for Best Actress in a Daytime Drama as Dr. Althea Davis. In 1967, she was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Special for her performance in First Ladies Diaries: Edith Wilson.

Gold Derby presented Hubbard with a lifetime achievement award in 2015. She was nominated for 11 Soap Opera Digest awards, although she did not win them.

Hubbard speaks fondly of her devoted following in one of her final formal interviews with Soap Opera Digest in 2015.

“I genuinely adore them. They are in my heart… “I wanted to let the fans know that I love and honor them, and I still read the poems I sent them,” she stated. “I’ve dated many guys, but my secret love is with the fans.”
