Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s children urged her to be more vocal during their divorce saga, as a close insider reveals.
“She’s been enduring a challenging period and striving to bring light back into her life,” shares a source close to Angelina. “Her kids have witnessed that in some situations, privileges and power can silence voices and minimize their feelings.”
“They encouraged her to speak up for herself over the years, though she opts to emphasize changing laws rather than airing private matters,” adds the source.
Jolie and Pitt’s story began on the set of 2005’s “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, they tied the knot in 2014. Attractions grew into a vibrant family with their six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
On September 19, 2016, Jolie filed for divorce. The decision followed an alarming incident on a private flight where Pitt allegedly was intoxicated and abusive. Yet, despite thorough investigations, Pitt faced no charges, and Jolie chose not to press the issue further.
Back in 2017, both stars agreed to protect the privacy of their offspring, ensuring court files remained confidential with legal matters settled privately.
In 2018, documents revealed that Jolie faced potential primary custody loss if she didn’t improve the kids’ relationship with Pitt. Eventually, a 50-50 custody decision was reached, but later faced challenges and didn’t become effective due to a disqualified judge.
As of December 30, both Jolie and Pitt inked an agreement finalizing their divorce, turning a new page at long last.

Angelina’s legal representative, James Simon, commented, “Jolie has been committed to healing and finding peace for her family since initiating divorce eight years ago. Despite the challenges, the culmination is a sense of relief.”
Meanwhile, a source close to Pitt describes Jolie’s public remarks as “a continuous misrepresentation of reality, causing unnecessary harm to those close to them.”
In July 2024, it was specified that Pitt has “barely any interaction” with the older kids, but according to the agreement, he has set visitation with the younger ones. A few of them have even removed “Pitt” from their names.
The estrangement weighs heavily on Pitt. “He longs for his children, and their absence saddens him,” a source reveals.
This lengthy and public separation has certainly been harsh on all involved. “Divorce, especially one played out under the spotlight, weighs heavily on the family,” an insider explained. “Both parties are deeply affected and continue to care for their kids.”

In recent talks, Jolie has referred to her children as “reserved and fiercely private.” She hopes they can gain the privacy they crave as they move through life.
Though the divorce came to a conclusion, Jolie and Pitt still clash over their former shared French winery, a legal entanglement disconnected from their separation. Her attorney shared, “Angelina desires resolution for herself and her kids, urging Mr. Pitt to focus on family mending instead of ongoing legal strife.”
A Pitt source remarked in November that his recent triumphs in the winery case authenticate his claims, underscoring that the opposition’s statements lack substantiation.
