Things are not well between Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner, his ex-wife. Following the former’s shocking divorce petition in early May, that much has become evident over the last two weeks.
According to accounts, Costner was surprised when his wife decided to file for divorce, and it seems that the unfortunate affair has only gotten worse since then.
Despite the conditions of their long-standing prenup, it was reported last week that Baumgartner was refusing to vacate the couple’s $145 million mansion. According to the deed, Baumgartner had 30 days to leave the property if a divorce petition was filed. She has technically outstayed her welcome since filing on May 1.
Kevin and Christine’s divorce was unexpectedly announced earlier this year amid rumors that Costner might be leaving the hit show Yellowstone. Christine filed for divorce at the beginning of May, citing “irreconcilable differences.” 18 years had passed since the couple’s wedding.
It is with great sadness that Mr. Costner must take part in a dissolution of marriage action due to events beyond his control, according to a statement issued by a spokesperson for the actor.
As they traverse this challenging period, “We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected.”
In 2004, Costner and Baumgartner got hitched. Grace, 12, Cayden, 15, and Hayes, 14, are the couple’s only children.
According to TMZ, renowned actor Costner allegedly gave his ex-girlfriend well over a million dollars to help her locate a new place to live.
The 49-year-old herself has responded via her lawyer, John Rydell, in response to the aforementioned media claims that Baumgartner refuses to leave the home she shares with Costner.
According to court records obtained by Insider, Rydell contends that Costner’s attempt to persuade Baumgartner to leave won’t be successful because the two had a shared family.
Costner’s plea, according to Rydell, “seeks to evict Christine and their three children from the house that the children have lived in their entire lives.”
Although there is almost no legal justification for Kevin’s desire to evict his wife and kids from their house, the lawyer continued: “This is still a matter of critical importance for Christine.”
According to other documents obtained by TMZ, Baumgartner, a former model, allegedly refuses to leave the house to persuade Costner to comply with “various financial demands.”
