A Male ‘Alpha’ Boycotts M&M’s Over “Feminist” Packaging

A self-proclaimed ‘alpha male’ is causing waves over M&M’s decision to release limited edition packets featuring an all-female line-up of characters.

In an attempt to celebrate trailblazing women and challenge outdated gender roles, M&M’s is supporting female-focused charities through their campaign titled ‘Flipping the Status Quo’. However, this hasn’t sat well with Nick Adams, an individual who proudly identifies as an ‘alpha male’.

Taking to social media, Adams expressed his outrage over what he refers to as ‘feminist M&M’s’. He labeled it as “egregious sexism of the worst kind,” and vowed to boycott the chocolate brand. Unsurprisingly, his strong reaction has drawn mixed responses from the online community.

But let’s take a step back and look at the bigger picture. The ‘Flipping the Status Quo’ campaign not only celebrates gender equality but also donates $1 from each pack sold to female empowerment charities. It’s a positive initiative that aims to make a difference.

Admittedly, Adams’ passionate response seems a bit excessive. He proclaimed that any man who buys a packet of M&M’s supporting this campaign must hand in their ‘man’ card, accusing them of being “soft, woke, beta, male feminists.” Additionally, he vowed to continue the boycott until M&M’s produces an all-male line of chocolates.

While Adams’ viewpoint has garnered attention, it’s important to highlight a bit of irony. In one of his tweets, he criticizes liberals for being constantly upset about something, exclaiming, “Just live your life and get over yourself.” Twitter users were quick to point out this contradiction.

If Adams truly desires an all-male line-up of M&M’s characters, perhaps he could indulge in pre-1997 packets, when the brand exclusively featured male mascots. However, it’s worth noting that the ‘Flipping the Status Quo’ campaign is in full swing, with limited-edition packets available in grocery stores across the US until March. The packets feature three female M&M’s characters and have an upside-down design to symbolize the campaign’s motive of challenging societal norms.

At the end of the day, M&M’s is taking a brave stance with their ‘Flipping the Status Quo’ campaign, regardless of Adams’ disagreement. So, if you want to support female empowerment and enjoy some delicious M&M’s, make sure to grab a pack before they’re gone!
