A 45-year-old woman from Pennsylvania was shocked to see that a red irritation that had appeared on her knee overnight was much worse and more disgusting.

It seems that the woman had just returned from a wonderful vacation in the Caribbean and was feeling very well, but a few weeks later, several itchy pimples appeared on her knees.

The emergency doctors, where her family doctor had sent her, told her that she had a classic case of parasitic infection, also known as the migrant’s larva.

But the source of the infection also turned out to be very unusual because it was caused by a species of worm that affects only dogs and cats. It seems that the woman is now the subject of a medical study that has just been published in The Journal of Emergency Medicine.

The traveler was eventually treated with anti-parasitic drugs and fully recovered, however, migraine larval infections are extremely rare, if not non-existent, in humans.

The worm responsible for its problem is the species Ancylostoma braziliense or Ancylostoma caninum, they enter under the skin and advance from there to the large intestine where they lay their eggs, then leave the body through the stool.

Due to the fact that humans are not the natural hosts of these worms, they got lost in the woman’s body and stayed very much under her skin because they did not find their way to the intestines.
