Delicious Slow Cooker Southern Style Goulash

Slow Cooker Southern Style Goulash is the perfect dish for those cozy family dinners or gatherings with friends. Imagine the hearty taste of ground beef, soft pasta, and savory tomatoes all blending together in a delightful meal. This dish has roots in Southern American cooking, giving it a special flare from the traditional Hungarian goulash. It’s made with simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen, making it both easy and budget-friendly. To me, this recipe is a bit nostalgic, whisking me back to my grandma’s lovely kitchen, and I’m thrilled to share it with all of you!

What’s great about this goulash is how convenient it is for those busy days. You can put it together in the morning and come back home to a delicious meal that’s ready to eat. It’s incredibly versatile too, pairing beautifully with a fresh side salad or some vibrant steamed green beans, adding a splash of color and freshness to your table. If you want to indulge a bit, serve your goulash with warm cornbread or a slice of garlic bread to mop up all that savory sauce. And of course, no Southern meal is complete without a refreshing glass of sweet iced tea or lemonade!

Slow Cooker Southern Style GoulashServings: 6

Ingredients

– 1 pound ground beef- 1 medium onion, diced- 1 green bell pepper, diced- 3 cloves of garlic, minced- 2 cups beef broth- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes- 2 teaspoons paprika- 1 teaspoon dried oregano- 1 teaspoon dried basil- Salt and pepper to taste- 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Directions

Start by taking a large skillet and placing it over medium heat. Cook your ground beef until it’s nicely browned. Make sure to drain any excess grease so the dish doesn’t end up too oily.

Next up, you’re going to add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic into the skillet with the beef. Let them cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, just until the vegetables have softened up a bit.

Once that’s done, transfer this flavorful beef and vegetable mix into your slow cooker. This is where the magic begins.

To the slow cooker, you’ll now add the beef broth, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, paprika, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Give it a good stir to make sure everything is well combined.

Set your slow cooker to low and let it work its magic for about 6 to 7 hours. If you’re a little pressed for time, you can set it to high and reduce the cooking time to 3 to 4 hours. Either way, your kitchen is going to smell amazing!

As the hours pass, the flavors will meld together beautifully, creating a rich and hearty meal you won’t be able to resist. If you’re using the shredded cheddar cheese, sprinkle it on top a bit before serving for an extra touch of indulgence.
