A Woman Who Became A “Vampire” By Covering Entire Body In Tattoos Issues Warning

A Warning from the Real-Life Vampire

Maria José Cristerna, also known as the “real-life vampire,” holds the Guinness World Record for the most bodily alterations. With an astounding 50 physical changes, she has truly transformed her appearance. Cristerna’s unique modifications include implants in her arms and forehead, multiple piercings, a split tongue, and an extensive collection of tattoos that cover almost her entire body, even her eyeballs.

Cristerna’s journey with body art began at the age of 14 when she got her first tattoo. At the time, her father did not approve, but later took her to a tattoo studio to support her passion for art. Speaking of her deep connection to art, Cristerna said, “Art runs through my veins. Since I was a little kid, I loved art, and now I can express it through my body.”

However, her physical changes are not just about self-expression. They hold a deeper meaning for Cristerna. Having endured an oppressive and abusive ten-year marriage, she sees her modifications as symbols of bravery, tenacity, and liberation. Through her transformation, she aims to advocate for other women who have faced similar physical, mental, and emotional abuse. “The only way to escape from violence and abuse is by loving yourself. We came to this world to be happy,” she emphasized.

While each alteration has its own significance, Cristerna acknowledges that some procedures were particularly painful. The implants in her arms and the pigmentation in her eyes were the most agonizing. But despite the challenges, she remains resolute in embracing her unique journey. “You always can reach your goals. There are no limits. Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it,” she declared.

Cristerna is proud of her accomplishments and has set a goal to cover 100 percent of her body in tattoos. She disregards others’ opinions and puts herself first. “I know who I am, and that is what is important,” she stated confidently. However, while she encourages self-expression, Cristerna also warns young people to carefully consider the irreversible nature of extreme modifications. “You have to think about it very hard in order to love it and be able to defend it your whole life,” she advised.

Despite her cautionary advice, Cristerna continues to get more tattoos herself. Her most recent Instagram post shows an artist working on her back at a tattoo shop. She remains dedicated to her unique style, sharing each transformation with her followers. But as she continues on her journey, she hopes that others will not make irreversible decisions without careful consideration.
