Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos divulge an unexpected tip for maintaining a happy marriage.

In the opinion of Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, the key to marriage is not to renew your vows.

On a recent edition of their morning talk program, Live with Kelly and Mark, the pair, who are now co-hosts, disclosed their secret.

Regarding vow renewals, we are superstitious, Ripa stated.

The 52-year-old actress and television personality claimed the event was the “kiss of death” and should be accompanied by “divorce papers.”

“I just feel like a vow renewal is a pre-divorce,” she continued. “It sounds like ‘We’re not getting along…’ I am aware of what we ought to do.

Her 27-year-old spouse concurred that a vow renewal is normally done after a husband has “messed up.”

And he added, “I’m not talking about ‘left the toilet seat up. “I’m talking messed up,” you say.

In the mid-1990s, Ripa and Consuelos got acquainted while working on the soap series All My Children.

“I’m very practical, but there was something about him,” Ripa told People in April. She thought Consuelos was going to be her “future hub.”

The pair secretly wed in Las Vegas on May 1, 1996. Together, they have three kids: Michael, age 26, Joaquin, age 20, and Lola, age 21.

We’ve heard a lot of advice for long-lasting unions but no vow renewal because it would be the death knell. About that, we’re not certain.

Please share your opinions on recommitting to one another.
