The Real Reason We No Longer Hear From Carmen Electra

Carmen Electra was a popular performer in the 1990s and early 2000s. Under Prince’s watchful eye, the Ohio native rose to popularity and rode the wave to super-stardom following her appearance in Baywatch from 1989 until 2001. The tabloids were obsessed with her, tracking her every move through several high-profile disputes, including two divorces.

Electra (real name Tara Leigh Patrick) has been notably absent from television, movies, and the press in recent memory, leading to the question: Where in the world is Carmen Electra?

We tracked her down for you, and her career may still use a metaphorical life preserver. How could Hollywood be unwilling to give this former beach babe showbiz CPR?

Please, no more lifeguard references; you’re probably begging as well. We’ll hydrate and remain out of the heat while you investigate the true reason we haven’t heard from Carmen Electra.

Carmen Electra’s music career began in 1993 with her self-titled debut album. Flash forward 20 years: in 2013, she launched a catchy dance tune called “I Like It Loud,” which peaked at number 24 on the Billboard dance club songs chart. In 2014, she released “Werq,” In 2015, she kept the party anthems coming with “Around the World.”

Even though all three songs charted in the top 25, her moderate success did not translate into broader pop popularity.

So don’t dismiss Electra’s abilities just yet. She has music coursing through her veins. According to The Huffington Post, her father played guitar, her uncle played drums, and her mother did backup vocals for funk artist Bootsy Collins.

“I’ve been itching to get back to music for quite some time now,” Electra told The Grid. It’s been a passion of mine since before I started working with Prince in the ’90s, but my life and career took a different turn.

Few people knew Prince as well as Carmen Electra, who obtained her mighty stage name from the “Kiss” singer when she was 18 years old, according to Us Weekly. They worked together in the early 1990s and even dated briefly. When Prince died in April 2016, Electra most likely took some time to mourn the loss of a close friend and counsel.

“The world has lost a genuinely wonderful spirit and musical brilliance,” Electra said in a statement (via People). What a blessing it has been to be one of the chosen ones who has had the opportunity to work so closely with him. He has influenced a generation. I’ll always adore him.”

According to reports, the former couple met while Prince organized a girl band. Although Electra did not make the final cut, he helped launch her career in the music industry by writing a song for her called “Carmen on Top.” “As an artist and person, Prince was so unbelievably generous,” Electra told Us Weekly in May 2016. And I’ll be eternally grateful to him for believing in me and taking a chance on me.”

Carmen Electra believes herself to be her own “worst enemy,” according to HuffPost. After viewing Beyonce’s documentary, Electra addressed some of her anxieties about beginning her music career and realized that “this super-powerful woman who is brilliantly talented with the world at her feet… still has challenges.”

Electra claims to have developed thicker skin over time. “In this job, there are many ups and downs, but I’ve learned to enjoy everything and not be as sensitive,” she remarked. “There are instances when you read something about yourself that affects you.

It’s even more complicated when things aren’t true. But I trust what I read! I pick up a tabloid and believe it even though I know it’s overblown, so I understand why others do.”

The ongoing struggle between one’s inner identity and public character has driven many a celebrity away from the spotlight, and it’s possible that Electra isn’t made out to deal with today’s rebellious attitudes on social media.

While her attempts to relaunch her music career have failed, Carmen Electra put herself out there as the host of a WE tv series called “Ex Island” in early 2016.

According to Deadline, the show’s goal was to enable on-again, off-again couples to decide whether to make their relationships work or try new love, all while confined on an island. Electra collaborated with Dr. Ish Major to assist these problematic couples in determining what is best for their love life.

WE tv bought ten episodes but has made no public announcements about a second season as of this writing. If another season was in the works, we’re sure Electra would be pushing it by now.

This might quickly become another point in Electra’s long history of ventures that failed shortly after launch.

Carmen Electra’s brief marriage to former NBA star Dennis Rodman ended many years ago, but she appears to be upset by the error. The couple eloped in Las Vegas in 1998, just after her mother died, but they parted about a year later. The entire saga was documented in the tabloids.

“People couldn’t understand why I loved him because he had a reputation for being a bad guy,” Electra explained on Oprah Winfrey’s Where Are They Now? She added that it didn’t take her long to realize she’d made a mistake. “It occurred so quickly. It was so spontaneous that I recall thinking, ‘Oh my God, what did we do?'” “Our connection was quite passionate,” she added. So, when it was fantastic, it was incredible. It was the worst when it was horrible.”

Dave Navarro is another potential romantic hotspot for Electra. Navarro, like Rodman, has a troubled personal history. Electra paid tribute to her rockstar ex-husband in June 2019 by uploading a wedding photo to Instagram and professing her “forever love” for him.

According to People, they divorced in 2006 after two and a half years of marriage. Yet, when the ex-couple was photographed together in 2017, Electra inexplicably stated Life&Style, “Maybe we’ll surprise everybody and get married again!” As far as we know, Navarro has not commented on the situation. Yikes.
