People fell in love with actress Bo Derek and her out-of-this-world beauty the instant they saw her. This bombshell, arguably best remembered for her part in 10, directed by her husband, remains as lovely as ever.

Bo knew she wanted to be an actress since she was a child. She landed her first film part at 16, thanks to her mother, who worked for Swedish-American actress Ann-Margeret. Bo met her future husband, actor and director John Derek while working on this film, Once Upon a Love.

John, who was 30 years Bo’s older, was married to actress Linda Evans at the time, but he divorced her to be with the then-17-year-old Bo.

Speaking of her adolescent affair, Bo, now 64, says she still feels horrible for ruining Evans’ marriage with John.

“I was at least somewhat responsible for some terrible agony that (Linda Evans) endured. She’d been nice and kind… And ironically, I just saw her yesterday. We were at a charity jewelry trunk exhibition. And she was just as magnificent and wonderful as she had always been. When I’m around her, I always feel like sh*t. Years later, it’s just engrained,” Bo told Interview Magazine in 2016.

Bo and John dated for two years, most of which they spent in Mexico and Europe to escape John being jailed for dating a minor before marrying in Las Vegas in 1976.

Bo’s cornrow-style, blonde braids were a distinguishing characteristic of her appearance back in the day that has somehow stayed the thing she is remembered for. She explained that her spouse suggested the haircut, and she had no clue it would become such a significant part of her.

“It was the late 1970s, and everything was fluffy, and I’m blond, and…” What will you do to stand out? John had always believed that would be a wonderful look for me for photography—he’s a fantastic photographer. And we gave it a shot. ‘Why don’t you take these images into Blake and see if he’ll go for it,’ he asked. “It would be great for the part, so you don’t look ordinary,” she told Interview Magazine.

Bo had a variety of roles over the years, notably in John’s films such as Tarzan, The Ape Man (1981), Bolero (1984), and Ghosts Can’t Do It (1990), as well as the television shows 7th Heaven, Lucky, and Queen of Swords.

John Derek died in 1998 at the age of 71. Bo had no intention of marrying again, but she began seeing actor John Corbett, 60. “We enjoy each other’s company and like making each other laugh. “We still hold hands after 15 years; we still have barbecues with friends a couple of times a week,” Bo stated a few years ago. They agreed to get married in 2020.

Bo has found her passion in horses which are a huge part of her life. She even published an autobiography titled Riding Lessons: Everything I Needed to Know About Life I Learned from Horses. Her love for animals inspired her to become an animal activist who advocates for their rights. She is particularly involved in missions calling for an end to horse slaughter.

Bo now lives a happy life in California and is still regarded as one of the most gorgeous actresses.
