The news of acclaimed actor Anthony Hopkins was a shock to many.

Hopkins’ supporters had some bad news. The Welsh actor, best remembered for his part in The Silence of the Lambs, is said to be retiring from acting at 85, effective immediately.

It is no longer an enjoyable pleasure to act.

“When we get older, there are times of life that we enter, and being an actor just isn’t fun anymore,” he may have added, according to an unnamed source.

Some sources, who did not disclose specifics, speculated that he might move into other creative fields where he excels and is more interested.

On Twitter, the hashtag #ThankYouAnthony momentarily trended. Some admirers may be intrigued as they recall the lovely times they spent with him.

Anthony Hopkins has remained sober for 47 years.

The two-time Oscar winner celebrated by sharing a motivational message about the importance of self-love on Instagram.

“I just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to mention that today marks 47 years of abstinence for me,” Hopkins, 84, said.

“This letter shouldn’t be serious, but I hope it is. I’m an alcoholic in recovery. Many individuals are in need, so this is for you.”

“In this day and age of cancel, hatred, and non-compromise, youngsters are being bullied,” he continued.

“Please be courteous. Avoid participating in toxic relationships with people that offend you. Have a good time with your life. “Be happy with your life.”

“I just had to admit one day that something was wrong with me,” the actor explained.

“I had no notion it was a mental, physical, and emotional sickness brought on by addiction or alcoholism. Also, I have no experience with medications. I am illiterate. But I’ve found a way to live that doesn’t involve being bullied.”

“I want to remind all of you young people who are being bullied into paying attention because you should be proud of yourself,” Hopkins stated.

“Don’t pay any attention to them. Allow no one to bring you down. On occasion, anxiety and depression can coexist in the human experience. Life is challenging.”

“But, talk to someone if you need help with addictions or problems. “Go to a 12-step program or speak with a counselor with someone you respect,” he suggested.

“There are 12-step programs in every city and country to help you figure out who you are. You will have an entirely new life that is free.”

Hopkins continued, saying that despite being “an old sinner, like everyone else,” and “not a do-gooder,” he had “the best life he could desire.”

“Wishing everyone a healthy 2023,” he said in the image’s description.
