Driven by determination and aided by Werkhoven’s mother, the students embarked on a mission to find the rightful owner of this extraordinary fortune. It wasn’t an easy task, but with each step, they grew closer to solving the mystery.

After a long search, they finally found the woman’s contact information in a phone book. With both anticipation and nervousness, Werkhoven picked up the phone, unsure of how the woman would react.

With bated breath, he said, “I found a couch.” To which the woman replied incredulously, “Oh my God, I left a lot of money in that couch.” Werkhoven then added, “I found something that I think is yours.”

The Remarkable Story Behind the Hidden Fortune

The elderly woman, preferring to remain anonymous, shared the remarkable reason why she hid her fortune within the couch. After her husband’s passing, he left her the money as a means to secure her future. With nowhere else to conceal it, she carefully stashed her savings inside the couch – a hiding spot that served her well for three decades.

More recently, the woman underwent back surgery and spent several months recovering in a rehabilitation facility.
