The cause of death of Robert De Niro’s 19-year-old grandson has been revealed.

The cause of death of Robert De Niro’s 19-year-old grandson has been revealed.

On August 8, 2023, New York City’s chief medical examiner released the findings, revealing that Leandro died as a result of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, bromazepam, alprazolam, 7-amino clonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine.

The autopsy appears to support Leandro’s mother’s prior comments on social media, in which she stated that the adolescent died after taking tablets laced with fentanyl, a synthetic opioid up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine.

“Someone sold him fentanyl-laced pills that they were well aware were laced but still sold to him.” So, for all of you who are still [expletive] peddling and buying this [expletive], my kid is no longer with us,” Drena De Niro added.

Drena announced her son’s death on Instagram on July 3, a day after he died.

“My lovely, darling angel. I’ve loved you beyond words since the minute I felt you in my tummy. “You have been my joy, my heart, and everything pure and real in my life,” she said.

“I don’t know how to live without you, but I’ll try to carry on and spread the love and light that you so generously gave me by allowing me to be your mama.” I wish that love alone could have saved you since you were so truly loved and valued. I’m very sorry, @carlosmare, I’m so sorry. My dear baby, rest in peace and eternal paradise.”

What did Robert De Niro have to say about the loss of his grandson?
“I’m deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo,” Robert said in a statement. Everyone’s condolences have been sincerely appreciated. “We would appreciate privacy while we mourn the loss of Leo.”

Carlos Mare, Leandro’s father, sent his own sorrowful letter, which he uploaded beside a photo of himself holding hands with his son. “It is with great shock and sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved son Leo,” he wrote. “We appreciate the outpouring of love and support and respectfully want privacy during this difficult time.”

Later, the family was pictured arriving at the Frank E. Campbell funeral home on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for the teen’s tearful wake.

Drena and Carlos entered hand-in-hand, while Robert, who had just become a parent for the sixth time, tried to hide his face behind a newspaper.

Robert De Niro has how many biological children?
Robert and his ex-wife Diahnne Abbott adopted Leandro’s mother Drena in 1976. He also has two daughters, Helen Grace, 11, and Gia, born on April 6, 2023, as well as four sons, Raphael, 46, Julian and Aaron, 27, and Elliot, 24.
