David Adeleke, best known by his stage as Davido, is going through a nightmare that no parent should ever have to go through. After home staff discovered the boy dead in a pool on Monday, the 29-year-old Nigerian artist lost his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, in what appears to have been a drowning.

Davido’s first child with his future wife, Chioma Rowland, was named Ifeanyi. After attending college together, they began dating after knowing each other since high school. The couple had planned to wed in 2020 but called off the wedding after Davido’s adultery scandal. They recently made up.

On Monday, the kid passed unexpectedly at the singer’s parents’ home. Davido and Chioma weren’t at home, according to Ben Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos police. Eight members of the house staff have been interviewed by the authorities in an effort to determine what transpired.

On October 20, the pair celebrated Ifeanyi’s third birthday. With the comment “I pray with all my heart that God brings you perfect health and pure pleasure for as long as humanly possible,” Davido wished his kid a happy birthday on Instagram. We are thinking of the family.

Around 10:00 PM on Monday, one of the house staff members called the police to report the occurrence. In order to learn more about the circumstances surrounding his death, Hundeyin stated that they were looking into the CCTV footage. She also added that the body had been taken to the mortuary.

In support of Davido, who is regarded as one of the most well-liked celebrities in all of Africa, the Nigerian community turned out. The governor of Lagos posted on Twitter, “Death leaves a pain no words can soothe and today, I send my heartfelt sympathies to David and Chioma.”

“I cannot even begin to fathom the suffering they are currently through. May they get peace, strength, and healing from God at this challenging time. One of the candidates for president of Nigeria, Peter Obi, paid tribute to the couple on Twitter and stated, “My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Authorities always want to know how these kinds of incidents happen in order to prevent them from happening again. Even though they haven’t made much progress on either front, they will keep investigating since they are currently questioning the house employees.

Davido’s domestic staff members have been brought to the station to provide their own accounts of what transpired. The person will now be placed under arrest if, after they have all given their own accounts of what occurred and preliminary investigations, any of them are found to be responsible.

Four years ago, Davido was expressing his sympathy to D’banj, a fellow Nigerian musician who had gone through an eerily identical situation. D’banj’s one-year-old son Daniel passed away in 2018 after drowning in a pool. He shared Daniel with his wife, a businesswoman from Nigeria named Lineo Kilgrow.

Not much else is known as of now. Since the news first surfaced, no arrests have been made, and neither Chioma nor Davido have issued a statement. As additional material is made available to the public in the upcoming days and weeks, I’m sure we’ll learn more.
