When Sandra Bullock gave birth to her son, Louis Bardo Bullock, in 2010, her life turned out for the better. He was a baby boy when the Academy Award-winning actress adopted him, and he has developed tremendously since then.

After Hurricane Katrina, which occurred five years before her 2010 divorce from her ex-husband Jesse James, Sandra claimed that she was motivated to pursue adoption.

Though she “did wonder [to herself], “Maybe not,” the Blind Side actress admitted to Parenting that she ultimately decided to adopt when “Katrina happened in New Orleans.” In June 2018, Sandra gushed to the outlet, saying, “Something told me, ‘My child is there.’” It was strange.

After Louis was born, Sandra added Laila Bullock as her second child through adoption in 2015. She started dating Los Angeles-based photographer Bryan Randall later that year, and they have been raising the star’s lovely family together ever since. An insider exclusively revealed to Closer in May 2021 that “[they] have actually [become] one big, loving family.”

Sandra noted that while her daughter is “unafraid” and “going to do” great things in life, her son has a slightly different attitude. The Golden Globe winner explained to InStyle in May 2018 why she refers to Louis as her “78-year-old son.”

Lou is quite sensitive, she said. “He reminds me of Jewish Catskills comedian Shecky Greene. He’s thoughtful and wise. When they handed him to me, I could see it. He had a spiritual majesty about him. I thought, “I hope I don’t screw that up.”

In a frank discussion with Willow Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris on Red Table Talk in November 2021, Sandra admitted that she occasionally wished her children had the same skin tone as her.

“To remark that occasionally I wish our skin tones were the same. It would then be simpler for people to approach us,” Bullock said. “And I feel the same as a mother with babies who are white or have brown complexion,” she continued.

Since Louis and Laila entered her life, Sandra has prioritized being a mother above all else, so she needn’t worry about how she’s parenting the children. The source told Closer that with Bryan’s assistance, the longstanding couple is “doing better than ever” in terms of parenting and their relationship.
