Nick Benedict, the ‘Days of Our Lives star, died at the age of 76 after suffering from complications from spinal surgery.

Nick Benedict, a well-known actor best known for appearing on ‘All My Children’ and ‘Day of Our Lives,’ died at 76.

The actor’s death was confirmed by an online obituary, which revealed that he died on July 14.

The news was also announced on Facebook on July 15 by Jake’s Steakhouse in Tehachapi, California, where Nick Benedict’s wife, Ginger, works.

The post’s touching caption read, “Nick Benedict’s birthday was July 14. Today he went to be with the Lord. Please keep Ginger in your prayers.”

So yet, the cause of Nick’s death has remained unknown.

The same Facebook post posted a GoFundMe page that had been put up for the couple shortly before his death, in addition to revealing the talented actor’s death. According to the page, Nick had emergency spinal cord surgery on July 2 and was later admitted to hospice care.

“Nick Benedict was in the Navy, an actor, musician, and painter,” according to the information on the page. Ginger and Nick’s marriage has lasted 22 years. Both have been residents in Tehachapi for many years. Nick had emergency spinal cord surgery on Sunday, July 2nd. He was admitted to hospice on July 4th. He is immobile from the neck down. He will require ongoing care and support.”

“They live in Arizona, and Ginger travels back and forth.” To say this is a stressful position is an understatement.”

From 1973 through 1977, Nick appeared on ‘All My Children’ as Phil Brent, one of Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) husband, a role that garnered him a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series in 1979.

He maintained his soap opera career in the 1980s and 1990s, participating in significant shows such as ‘The Young and the Restless’ (where he played Victor’s adversary, Michael Scott) and ‘Days of Our Lives’ (where he played Curtis Reed). Nick was featured on ‘Santa Barbara’ as well.

Outside of soap operas, Nick has appeared in ‘The Dukes of Hazzard,’ ‘The Fall Guy,’ and ‘Knots Landing,’ according to his IMDb website.

In a 1993 interview with the Times and Democrat, Nick said that he took a break from acting after the death of his father, Richard Benedict, who was also an actor and director. Nick ran a contracting company during that time and played in nightclubs with various bands.

When asked about his desire to return to acting after a hiatus, he said, “It’s just like riding a bike.” You never forget what you learn.”
