NFL Player Takes 11-Year-Old Fan To ‘Daddy-Daughter Dance’ Who Has No Dad

Philadelphia Eagles’ Anthony Harris Takes 11-Year-Old Fan To ‘Daddy-Daughter Dance

Despite just being 11 years old, Audrey Soape has already experienced a great deal in her life. Following the deaths of both her father and her grandfather in 2021, Audrey was going to be attending the father-daughter dance at her church all by herself.

But her mother Holly was not going to let that happen. She decided to step in…

Holly came up with the brilliant idea of contacting Philadelphia Eagles safety Anthony Harris. It was a hopeful effort but she felt that she needed to do it to somehow brighten up the daddy-daughter dance that Audrey had been looking forward to. Holly was hoping that Harris would be free to accompany Audrey to the dance.

You see, Audrey is a huge fan of the famous football player, and because of this, her mother thought that if Harris would agree to her request, this would make it the unforgettable evening that Audrey had always dreamed of.

She said, “It’s kind of far-fetched…it’s a big ask. I just asked if he would come if he’d be willing to come. And he said, ‘not only will I come, I want to make sure she feels like a princess.’”

After learning what her mother did and that her football idol agreed, Audrey had mixed emotions. She said, “I heard about it about a week before the dance. And at first, I was really nervous. I was kind of worried all week that I was going to mess up dancing.”

But Harris made it all extra special for the 11-year-old fan. He didn’t just fly in for the dance but he also covered the cost of Audrey’s dress, shoes, hair, and makeup!

Holly shared, “He had a car with a driver, who come to the house and pick her up. He really wanted to make sure she had the best possible time.”

To top it all off, he also made time to meet her brother Jackson. He said, “It made me feel really happy and feel special because he didn’t only come over just to go to the ‘Daddy-Daughter Dance’ with Audrey, he came over to see me, too.”

Talking to CBS local affiliate, Audrey shared that the event was truly a dream come true for her. She said, “I was super nervous but I was also super excited. And I was like preparing myself all week because it was going to be fun, but I was super nervous. I didn’t know what to say.”

And of course, the night would not be complete without pictures and videos of this momentous event. The special night was all captured by a professional photographer.

Audrey said, “I was very happy, and I also felt very special because not a lot of stuff happened to people like this, and especially me.”

Holly further added, “We would all do anything for our kids when we see them suffering. To know that there are people out there who will also help be there for your kids and for you, it’s really encouraging for me, and it’s sort of turned this horrible tragedy into sort of this triumphant moment.”

Holly also explained that she reached out to Harris’ foundation six weeks before the father-daughter dance, hoping that something could be worked out for Audrey. Thankfully Anthony Harris was available and loved the idea. Holly’s efforts were all worth it.
