They say how you decorate your home reveals a lot about your personality. And once at a time, the houses that line Mountain View Street in Pflugerville, Texas, seemed like any other neighborhood. Residents in this area are accustomed to seeing white, beige, and gray houses. Everything changed when Emilio Rodriguez moved in.

Emilio was just four years old when he survived a tragic vehicle accident. However, he was permanently paralyzed from the waist down due to this. And he has had a series of surgeries throughout his adult life. Today, he is wheelchair-bound, and this house will contribute to the ‘Keep Austin Weird vibe.

Despite his various challenges throughout his life, one thing has always made him smile and feel a lot better – the color pink!

Emilio discovered that the hue pink is calming and mood-boosting when dealing with his medical challenges. That is why, when Emilio finally purchased his dream home in Pflugerville two years ago, he knew exactly what he had to do: paint it pink. His family and fiancée pleaded with him not to paint the house this hue. Emilio, on the other hand, is adamant about following his instincts.

Emilio discovered the ideal color for his dream home after being inspired by the vibrant colors in his tattoos. As a result, Emilio had the house painted in a Pepto-Bismol pink. It’s not only for accents, though. He sprayed it all over his house. He was striving for a “wet slime” effect.

“I did the back first, the entire back of the home,” he explained. “Then I did the entire house.” He also stated that a house decorated in this manner was his dream home.

But Emilio is not finished. He also intends to install a pink-tiled driveway and lamps in the yard. Not only that, but he’s considering painting his wheelchair pink!

While Emilio is pleased with how his pink house turned out, many of his neighbors are not. Many believe it stands out, but not in a good way. However, he seems unconcerned about what his neighbors or other people think or say about his house.

His irritated neighbors will not affect him. He stated that he chose this particular neighborhood for one reason: there was no homeowners’ association to prevent him from building his dream home.

Because his pink house is so distinctive, it has now gone viral on social media, and he has observed its positive and negative aspects. Some people undoubtedly enjoyed it, but Emilio claims he has also received threats and insulting comments. His neighbors who disagree may file a lawsuit to force the issue.

Still, Emilio does not consider this a major issue. All he cares about is how much he enjoys this house and can’t understand why others don’t.
