Mariska Hargitay Remembers Her Late Mother Jayne Mansfield on Her 90th Birthday
Mariska Hargitay, known for her role in Law & Order: SVU, took a moment to pay tribute to her mother, Jayne Mansfield, on the day that would have marked her 90th birthday. Hargitay shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, along with a beautiful photo of her mother.
In her caption, Hargitay expressed her love for her mother and the continued impact she has on their lives. She wrote, “Happy birthday Mama. We live to love you more each day.” It’s clear that Mansfield’s memory is cherished and her presence is missed.
To further honor her mother’s legacy, Hargitay also shared a precious video of Mansfield on her Instagram Story. This touching gesture allows fans to catch a glimpse of the vibrant and charismatic persona that Mansfield was known for.
Born Vera Jayne Palmer on April 19, 1933, Mansfield rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s as one of Hollywood’s iconic blonde bombshells. Often compared to Marilyn Monroe, Mansfield was dubbed the “Working Man’s Monroe.” Her beauty and talent led her to be a Playboy Playmate and star in various movies, including “The Girl Can’t Help It”, “Promises! Promises!”, and “The Sheriff of a Fractured Jaw”.
Tragically, Mansfield’s life was cut short in 1967 due to a car accident. She was only 34 years old at the time. Hargitay, who was just three years old, was in the car with her mother and siblings but miraculously survived. Mansfield, her attorney and companion Sam Brody, and their driver Ronnie Harrison, unfortunately, did not survive the accident.
Despite enduring such a tragedy at a young age, Hargitay has developed resilience and strength. In an interview with Glamour in 2021, she shared her perspective on overcoming adversity. “I think I learned about crisis very young, and I learned very young that s— happens and there’s no guarantees, and we keep going. And then we transform it,” she said.
Hargitay continues to embrace life and find healing through personal growth. “My life has been a process of unpeeling the layers and trust and trusting again,” she added. Her journey serves as an inspiration to many, showcasing the power of resilience and the ability to rise above life’s difficulties.
Today, on what would have been Jayne Mansfield’s 90th birthday, we join Mariska Hargitay in remembering her mother with love and admiration. Happy heavenly birthday, Jayne!
