Some people appear younger than their age, which most people appreciate when they receive compliments on their youthful appearance. Some people may simply enjoy taking care of themselves, or it may be in their genes.

But would you believe that some adults can appear too young for their age, almost like children? Some people, believe it or not, do.

That is the case for one 23-year-old woman who looks like an 8-year-old girl. Her boyfriend has been chastised for being romantically involved with her since they began dating, with many citing her youthful appearance as an issue.

If you’re a fan of TLC shows, you’ve probably seen “I Am Shauna Rae.” It centers on Shauna Rae Lesick, a woman diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. Although she is in remission, the illness had a side effect that caused her to be trapped in the body of a young girl because she had stopped growing. She is only 50 pounds and 3 feet 10 inches tall.

Lesick’s youthful appearance and stunted growth made it difficult for her to break into the dating scene. But, as the adage goes, good things come to those who wait… So she finally found the right one for her.

Lesick’s joy was short-lived after people began calling her boyfriend, 26-year-old Dan Swygart, “creepy.”

According to a story published in The Mirror, most people were bothered by Swygart’s romantic relationship with Lesick because she appears and speaks like a child.

“Dan almost seems to be drawn to her specifically because she is so small, which is concerning. “I apologize,” one person said.

“She is 23, but she appears and speaks like an eight-year-old. She also does not present herself as a mature woman. “She has a childlike demeanor,” another person observed.

“Any man or woman who honestly claims to see her as a “sexual woman” is either lying or insane. PERIOD,” one other person stated.

Even Lesick’s mother and stepfather, Patty and Mark Schrankel, expressed concern in one of the reality show’s episodes that their daughter might fall victim to pedophiles due to her appearance.

Swygart explained why he fell in love with Lesick in December 2022. When he saw her in the show’s first season, he was inspired by her strength. So he decided to send her flowers and a card with the message, “Go live your best life. I wish you all the joy you deserve.”

Swygart stated that while Lesick has a disability, she is an incredible woman whom he adores.

“It’s critical to remember that Shauna is a remarkable 23-year-old woman with a disability,” Swygart said.

Swygart, on the other hand, stated that he fell in love with Lesick because of the connection he developed with her rather than because of appearances.

“So, as you build a connection with her, remember to acknowledge her disability and look past it to build it with who she is as an individual,” he said.

Swygart expressed disgust at those who assumed his intentions with Lesick were malicious.

“You dehumanize her as soon as you say she can’t have a real-world connection with someone else, which is disgusting,” he said. “She is a living being. “She is entitled to have relationships and connections with whomever she desires,” he added.

However, it appears that Lesick and Swygart’s budding romance is over. When asked by the Daily Record, Lesick revealed that if they were to make it work, they would have to try long distance, but “it’s not my cup of tea,” she said.
