Judge Will Let A New Case Against Bill Cosby For Sexual Battery Go Forward.

Bill Cosby, 84, is best known for his role as the lovable husband and father in the 80s television comedy series “The Cosby Show.” This role earned him the nickname “America’s Dad.” However, his family-friendly reputation was tainted after more than 50 women accused him of multiple sexual assaults over nearly five decades.

Cosby was found guilty in 2018 of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in his home in 2004. Constand worked at Temple University, his alma mater. Constand was an employee there at the time.

After Cosby had already served more than two years of a sentence that could have ranged anywhere from three to ten years, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court reversed the conviction in June 2021.

The court came to the conclusion that the charges should never have been brought against Bill Cosby because an earlier local district attorney had made a public commitment in 2005 that they would not prosecute him. The petition submitted by the prosecution in March to have the decision reviewed by the Supreme Court of the United States was denied.

And now, a new sexual battery case against Bill Cosby will move forward after a judge approved the civil lawsuit. This case is expected to take place in Santa Monica, California.

Allegations say that Cosby touched Judy Huth inappropriately when they were both staying at the Playboy Mansion. The woman’s lawyer said Huth was only a teenager back then.

Dozens of women came forward accusing him of drugging, sexually assaulting, or raping them over the course of several years. Huth then sued Bill Cosby back in 2014. She decided to speak up after the claims became public. After Bill Cosby was arrested for his sexual offenses in 2015, Huth’s case against him was put on hold.

Since Huth first sued Cosby, his legal team has been trying to get the lawsuit thrown out on the grounds that Huth’s story has changed.

Attorney Nathan Goldberg told a jury in Santa Monica, California, that Huth met Cosby when she was just a teenager and he was a “star.” Goldberg also showed jurors a photo of Huth and Cosby together, taken on the day Huth says she was assaulted.

Huth first said that the alleged event happened when she was 15 years old. Since then, she has changed this detail and now says it happened when she was 17 years old. She is accusing him of sexual battery and demanding monetary damages for her emotional distress.

Huth claimed in her lawsuit that she and a friend met Cosby on the set of a movie at a park. In the next week, Huth said that Cosby had invited the girls to meet him at his Los Angeles estate, where he made Huth drink beer and abused her on a bed.

During the opening statements, Goldberg said, “He has a sense of entitlement and no fear. He has a sense of invincibility.” Goldberg further added that his client and the person that Huth claims witnessed the alleged attack by Cosby will testify about the events of that day.

In his defense, Cosby’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, said in a statement: “We are confident that the evidence will discredit Plaintiff’s 50-year-old allegation.”

Bill Cosby is not expected to attend the trial.
