Joseph Baena: Thrilled to Have Arnold Schwarzenegger as His Father

An Unconventional Family

Joseph Baena, now 26, faced a challenging upbringing due to his unconventional family situation. For the first 14 years of his life, he didn’t know that Arnold Schwarzenegger, the iconic actor and bodybuilder, was his father. Joseph’s mother, Mildred Baena, worked as a housekeeper for the Schwarzenegger family.

Discovering the Truth

One day, Joseph was called out of class to find his mother waiting for him. She revealed that everyone was finding out about his true parentage. Joseph was shocked and had to process the sudden media attention surrounding his family. His life was transformed before his eyes.

A Bond Over Fitness

In spite of the complicated circumstances, Joseph formed a strong bond with his father. They bonded over fitness, and Arnold even gave Joseph a book he co-authored, “The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.” Although Joseph could always call his father for advice, he wanted to figure things out himself. He believed in hard work paying off, just like his father.

Following His Father’s Footsteps

Joseph is now following in his father’s footsteps as an actor and bodybuilder. He has appeared in several films and even participated in Dancing with the Stars in 2022. But, he doesn’t use his father’s name to get auditions; he wants to succeed based on his own talent and hard work.

Facing Challenges with Grace

While Joseph maintains a strong bond with his father, his relationship with his step-siblings is complicated. They blame Joseph for the affair that led to their parents’ divorce. Despite their negativity, Joseph remains positive and focused on his own path.

A Proud Father

Arnold Schwarzenegger acknowledges that what he did was wrong, but he never wants Joseph to feel unwelcome in this world. He is proud of the man Joseph has become and loves him deeply.
