George Clooney has revealed the terrible mistake he made with his 5-year-old twins

In a recent interview, George Clooney admitted that he and his wife Amal made a significant error in their parenting of their twins, Alexander and Ella, who are now five years old: they tried to teach them Italian.

On Wednesday, the 61-year-old actor and his wife, who is 44 years old, appeared on CBS Mornings to promote their new awards show, which is the first annual Albie Awards presented by the Clooney Foundation for Justice.

When the actor explained that they didn’t realize how much of a mistake it would be to teach their children Italian, the host, Gayle King, questioned what “delights” them at that age.

‘We made a tremendous error. Although we instructed them in Italian, neither George Clooney nor I are able to communicate in the language.

“We’ve armed them with a language they can harm us with, and we don’t really know what they’re saying,” Clooney admitted, adding that they also speak French. “We’ve armed them with a language they can harm us with,”

The actor also joked that he’s from Kentucky and, ‘English is my second language, while Amal revealed their son Alexander is taking after his old man as a prankster.

“These days, our son is quite the troublemaker. Amal continued by saying, “Now that he’s learned all of these lessons from you, he’s playing jokes on his dad.”

George also mentioned that Alexander’s favorite superhero is Batman, despite the fact that he does not appear particularly impressed by the fact that his father used to play the Caped Crusader.

‘I go, “You know, I was Batman,” and he goes, “Yeah, but not anymore,” Clooney joked, referring to his portrayal in 1997’s Batman and Robin, adding, ‘If only he knew how true that was.’

Earlier this month, Clooney was in Los Angeles for the launch of the Roybal School of Film and Television Production Magnet in downtown Los Angeles. While he was there, he joked about his twins while speaking at the event.

When George Clooney was asked how he would feel about his own children, twins Alexander and Ella who are 5 years old, pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, he joked that they are already smarter than him.

They can do whatever they want. Clooney made a witty remark by saying, “My guess is that they’re a little smarter than me, so, they’ll probably do something — they already speak three languages, so I’m still working on English.”

He also talked about the Clooney Foundation for Justice’s first-ever Albie Awards, which were presented by people including Meryl Streep, Michelle Obama, Oscar Isaac, and Dua Lipa.

Amal revealed that the awards are named after South African lawyer and activist Albie Sachs, whom she referred to as a “human rights hero.” King said that the awards “shine a light on individuals who are devoting their lives to justice at great personal risk to themselves.” Amal described Albie Sachs as a “human rights hero.”

“When we were thinking of who we wanted to win the Lifetime Achievement Award and who we wanted to name the entire ceremony after, he was the first name that came to mind and we couldn’t think of anyone better,” Amal said.
