For baby loss awareness week, Prince William and Princess Kate share an inspirational message.

The Prince of Wales and his wife, the Princess of Wales, took to their respective social media accounts on October 9 to post a heartfelt message in honor of Baby Loss Awareness Week, which runs from October 9 through October 15.

In posts to their official Twitter and Instagram accounts, the royal couple, who have three children together, expressed their condolences to families who have suffered the tragic loss of a child and provided information on organizations that are able to provide support to those families.

The royal couple posted on their Instagram that they were “taking a minute during #BabyLossAwarenessWeek to think about all those who have been affected by pregnancy and baby loss.”

There are organizations and resources that are providing assistance and guidance to families and loved ones who are most in need of it, and they are listed in this thread.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge provided the following message alongside the organization’s contact information: “Child Bereavement UK @cbukhelp, offers a support helpline if you’ve been impacted by child bereavement at any time.

If you or someone you know thinks this could be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

In addition, the couple shared links to the accounts of @MMHAlliance, @SandsUK, and the group working at @Tommys.

In their review of Tommy’s, Prince William and Kate Middleton said, “They have free resources available and, if you are struggling, tell you to be gentle to yourself and know that support is available.”

There have been other instances in the past in which members of the royal family have suffered the loss of a child.

In 2001, the Countess of Wessex was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy, which required emergency surgery to save her life. Sadly, the pregnancy resulted in the loss of one of her unborn children.

Her husband, Prince Edward, made the following statement to reporters as he stood outside the hospital at the time: “It’s obviously a very painful period and my wife has… It is without a doubt the most excruciating experience that anyone can go through.

“It’s a fairly harrowing ordeal to go through. As the discomfort lessens, the feeling of relief will gradually become more intense. I would want to extend my gratitude to every member of the medical staff who has worked so diligently, responded to the situation with such promptness, and dealt with everything in such a skilled manner.

One month after announcing Zara’s second pregnancy in November 2016, and three years after giving birth to her first daughter, Mia, Zara and Mike Tindall were devastated to learn that they had also suffered the loss of a baby.

At the time, a representative for the couple shared the news through a spokesperson, saying, “Very regrettably, Zara and Mike Tindall have lost their baby. In light of the current circumstances, we would appreciate it if everyone could respect their need for privacy.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also suffered a miscarriage in July of 2020, and Meghan Middleton broke the painful news to the public in an open letter for the New York Times titled “The Losses We Share.”
