Dolly Parton says that she will ‘hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song’ sometime before retiring.

Dolly Parton has been a country music star for over 50 years and has no intentions to stop.

“I would never retire,” Parton stated last week in an interview with Ken Bruce on the UK’s “Greatest Hits Radio,” adding that she hopes to “just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday – hopefully one I’ve written.”

While promoting her new album “Rockstar,” she stated that she “always believed that if you wanted your dreams to come true, and you’re lucky enough to have that happen, then you’ve got to be responsible because you’ve got to keep the dream alive.”

She compared the development of each of her dreams to “a tree with good roots,” and added, with a grin, “I’m not one to sit around doing nothing.”

She truly believes it.

Despite having spent decades as one of the most beloved country music stars in history, she continues to pioneer new magic and hop genres.

Parton’s first attempt into rock music, “Rockstar,” was inspired by her 2022 entrance into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – an accolade she famously, albeit respectfully, tried to deny at first.

“They put me in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and I thought I should have a decent record to represent that,” she explained to Bruce, adding that as a country musician, she felt she “oughta do something to earn my keep” in the rock world.

The album comprises collaborations with some of music’s most significant musicians, including Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks, Sting, and many others.

Aside from making new music, she told Bruce that she hopes to one day have her own TV network to produce shows about her life, as well as a fashion, beauty, and wig line. Parton will also release a book titled “Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones” in October.

“As long as I’m able to work, as long as my health is good, and as long as my husband’s health is good,” Parton remarked, adding that nothing else would slow her down.

On November 17, “Rockstar” will be launched worldwide.
