Discovering the Top of the Great Pyramid of Giza

The Great Pyramid of Giza has fascinated people for centuries, and its mysteries continue to captivate us even today. This ancient wonder of the world is a testament to human ingenuity and architectural brilliance. While many visitors to Egypt catch a glimpse of the pyramids from afar, very few get the opportunity to see the topmost point up close. However, one adventurous Brazilian recently had the chance of a lifetime and managed to capture an incredible video of his flight over the pyramid.

Meet Yanis Terzis, a 35-year-old psychiatric administrator and pilot from Campinas, Brazil. As part of a paramotor event, Yanis embarked on a journey to fly over several ancient Egyptian sites, including the Sphinx. Equipped with a paramotor, which is similar to a paraglider but includes a fan for propulsion, Yanis was determined to capture unique footage from a different perspective. He attached a GoPro Hero 10 to his helmet, ensuring that every moment of his adventure was captured on film.

Now, it’s important to note that Yanis had obtained all the necessary permissions to fly over these historical structures. With the aim of capturing the most amazing footage, he took a calculated risk and flew as close to the ground as possible. The result was nothing short of breathtaking. Yanis maneuvered his paramotor with such precision that he could have touched the tip of the pyramid with his feet if he wanted to. His video revealed fascinating details, such as carved words and graffiti, on the white stone of the pyramid. The 4k footage provided an incredible view, allowing viewers to appreciate the intricate details of these ancient monuments.

Contrary to popular belief, the top of the pyramids is not as pointed as it appears from below. In fact, these areas are quite flat, making Yanis’s flight over the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza an extraordinary experience. Standing tall among the Seven Wonders of the World, the Giza Pyramids hold immense historical and cultural significance. The Great Pyramid, believed to have been constructed around 2560 BCE, originally stood at a towering height of 482 feet. However, erosion and stone removal over time have reduced its height to approximately 449 feet.

Yanis’s daring adventure captured the imaginations of millions, with his videos amassing over 7 million views on YouTube. For him, this unforgettable experience will be etched in his memory forever. Few individuals have ever had the opportunity to witness the topside of these ancient structures, making Yanis’s flight truly remarkable.

Next time you catch a glimpse of the Great Pyramid of Giza, remember the incredible view from the top that remains hidden to most. The secrets and beauty that lie beyond the typical tourist perspective add another layer of wonder to this iconic monument.
